I think that its time to get rid of any ideas of seniority. I have seen younger guys that did a great job get put on the street simply because they didn't have quite as much time as other guys. The guys who kept their job might have been here for many years , but were getting a little on the slow side. The younger guys who get layed off are more likely yo have mortgages and expensive car payment, its just not fair. If the older guys got layed off, I don't think they would have a hard time finding more suitable employment.

Yeah I mean who cares about senority anyway. Most guys with time are total worthless sh–heads anyway. I say get rid of them and let the younger guys work. Such a sorry bunch of losers those older guys. They are the reason we are losing jobs. Cut out the senority and go by production. I see about 10 cats right now older than me that could go bye bye and not one single thing would slow down
Wow, what an id–t. Go work for a contractor. Disabled after 37 years of work. You probably couldnt tie my work boots. That's why we pay union dues.
I wouldn’t be worried at all 😂 you’ve got it all wrong. Statistically, retirees kick the bucket within 10 years of retiring. It’ll be fine
I don’t think your pensions will go very far if there’s less people working then there are retirees. I’d kinda be worried about that, cause that well will eventually dry up and I can assure you that the government will not bail that pension fund out... it’s just common sense
I'll ride it out until they tell me to go home!
If you are a young guy with the railroad, RUN NOW!!!!!! I have been on railroad 31 years and am on the bottom of seniority list. Think about it, it's not going to get any better.
Why do you people always fall for this Wake up white people.
Lots of seniority doesn’t always mean you’re the oldest in age I was furloughed In Portsmouth the highest guy is mid 30s And whoever said seniority is all we have he’s right it s—s sometimes but it’s nice when you’re the high man
Does this make any sense at all 👇👇?
Some a– s—ers here.If you are one of the dead eye drones that retire hopefully you only get a couple of years so we can put you money back in the kitty. Most guys die early for eating all that clean air. So run keep your sanity and family and invest tier2 and union dues and I guarantee your house will be much nicer than most railroad retirees. My brother retired from a mediocre fed job and clears 5200 a month with a trip program for 30 years.
fro one old f–k to another, what he said double
Hired in 1976,laid off 4 times prior to 1980. Laid off in 1981 for 7 years. If we would’ve asked that from the older guys they would have smacked us in the face. S— it up and look for another job, you’ll never see a railroad pension!! But rr pension is wonderful!!
“Seniority is all we’ve got”. Working in a union shop has its upsides and its downsides. Everyone has that guy right above them that Gets away with marking off all the time, doesn’t care about his work and has been in trouble countless times and always gets brought back. But imagine the rr without seniority. They would give the good shifts and jobs to whoever they liked whether or not someone else should have been entitled to it. They might let you go altogether just because you didn’t s— up enough.
This is coming from an "OLD F@#K",Just give me a buyout with my retirement intact I'll gladly walk.
Give up your seniority then. Everyone who gets hired knows the rules. I suspect you are just a sh@tstirrer with nothing better to do than cause trouble.
Maybe not the older guys but the guys who can full willingly collect there retirement should definitely consider moving on get a hobby leave your old lady if you hate her so much collect that pension and quit making excuses
You are at best a spoiled brat looking for an excuse to make yourself feel better.....just look at this as if it was your father or mother...still want to discard the old that has probably completed more tasks than you ever will
S— it up buttercup. Time to learn a hard life lesson, life isn't fair. Hated to see you guys go, but maybe you should have thought about that before you started spending money you didn't have.
How do you think that will work for you when you get older? Short sighted in your thinking !
Exactly 👇
Maybe it's time for the younger guys to evaluate their decision to have an expensive car payment?
