Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

DONT SIGN YOUR SEVERANCE AGREEMENT UNTIL GAC DOES ITS COURT ORDERED EEOC REPORTING AFTER ITS LAST AGE DISCRIMINATION SUIT

Fantastic information in the document (link belwo) on GACs last age discrimination lawsuit. Within 30 days of completing the RIF, they have been ordered under this court settlement, to notify the EEOC of the details of RIFed employees. This includes name, date of birth, department.

We will have a right to see this to determine the likelihood we were RIFed because we were over 50 years old as it appears so many of us are. DON'T SIGN ANY SEVERANCE AGREEMENT UNTIL YOU SEE THAT EEOC FILING INFO

There is so much great advice from most of the posters on this site it’s a big help in trying to determine what to do next.

Gulfstream outsources much of its sheetmetal and wire harnesses to Mexico. In addition they moved the manufacture of there wings from Tulsa, to Korea. Great American company don’t you think?

You typically get a time period like 45 days to accept your package, or reject and sue. I'm not rushing. Letting the attorney review everything & advise me based upon how good the package is and if they feel they can negotiation anything better based upon my age, years of service and excellent performance reviews.

They won’t make the same mistake again. The HR ice princess will make sure of that.

I think it won't be possible to prove age discrimination. GAC/GD now have the sneakiest lawyers to avoid getting in trouble. Everything that has happened over the past 2 months was lawyered. Remember every Mark Burns email when we had a case on site? They had picked the right words, and every message was a copy/paste. The letter that we received after being laid-off? Again, very specific words to justify WARN act and not have to pay the penalty to employees. I guarantee they picked an equivalent number of under 40 to have the right balance. They may have "won" the way they fired people, but they lost a lot in knowledge and reputation. Words are spreading quick in the aero community, and GAC, which had issues to bring talents in Savannah, just shot itself in the foot for supersonic.

What if they revoke our severance package by not signing on May 15?

Age group was definitely a factor. It was junior and senior mainly. Too many people reported that to me and that theme was way too common.

I've been there 24 years and got the call Friday. The majority of those from my department were all 20+ as well.

Management swears they didn't have a say.

What a great way for GAC to say "thank you for your dedication and loyalty."

Guys- I poked around a bit in regards to the 2000 layoff mess. It looks like 2.1 mil divided between 61 people. Avg 34K each. Sure doesn't seem like much.
