Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Contractor layoffs are here

Well this week we lost more great contractors that were actually doing their jobs so that Oxy could avoid paying out severance packages. #TEAMOXY

@zei Just check out, stop caring and take it easy. It's the Oxy way anyways.

This isn’t a good time to be whining about your career goal, dumb millennial.

#BOYCOTTOXY.. They can't run this company by themselves with their incompetent employees.

@zei+14PyJafh I wouldn't be complaining at this time....you are getting to keep your employment and way to pay your bills. If you are so unhappy with this, I am pretty sure they will accept your resignation. Learn something new and be happy you are learning a new skill. Complaining at this time that you have to do something that throws you off your career path is ridiculous considering 20 million plus people lost their jobs in the last month.

This week I am being trained by a contractor and will be taking her position. These people are good at what they do and I am about to do a job function that sidetracks my main career goal. It isn't even close to what my career goal is. The contractors are not happy, I'm not happy. Everyone loses in this.

@zgl+14PyJafh yes, but the useless employees that are sitting around pretending to do work while the contractors do work are eligible for severance. So now, you have no work and still stuck with a waste of space.

The right thing to do is fire the dead weight for performance reasons and keep the good employees and contractors that do work. But hey, this isn't a well run company.

@zgl+14PyJafh Oxy avoided paying severance by letting go of contractors and putting untrained company people in their place.

Contractors know that risk when they sign on. The pay is higher but they are usually first ones out the door.
