Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

Why is European leadership silent?

Nothing from Angela Brav.
Nothing from the Country Leaders.
I am lucky because I have a great manager who keeps me informed.
But I want to hear from our leaders, because I know that our financial position is fully broken, and I know then are going to fire us all but they are too ashamed to communicate.

I’ll tell you what happens next...

The British taxpayer has to continue to pay the wages of a company that was bankrupt before COVID-19. A company that has no new ideas, morally bankrupt leadership and no chance to succeed when/if the pandemic ends.

Isn’t that that right, Angela Brav and leaders? Still on full salary whilst you ‘save the company’?

I know how all the other rental cars are doing, and Hertz is an embarrassment.

Here we go again...

LinkedIn post #HertzHolidayCollection, gets a load of love and likes from the European leadership lackeys - you know who you are.

2 big issues:

  1. Customers immediately jump on these phoney LinkedIn PR posts and use them as an opportunity to complain about terrible service, so the ‘likers’ are drawing attention to hertz failures!!! Great job.
  1. Seriously - wrapping a couple of airport rentals in middle of a global pandemic with travel bans in place all over the world? Is that the best you can do? How about diversifying away from the airport-dependant business model.

Also loving how an ex European marketing manager draws attention to the massive failure that was the various #british/italian/french collections. I love it how Hertz pats itself on the back for achieving failure.

WAY TO GO HERTZ. WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS KEEP DOING THE SAME THING.

To my furloughed Hertz colleagues - may 2021 bring us something better.

A new Hertz Leadership or a job somewhere else would be nice.

Paul - are you listening? Look at the numbers - they don’t lie.

Angela Brav - please leave.

Agreed, Happy Christmas and my wish for New Year is Angela Brav is out, otherwise 2021 will be as devastating.

Even if she was a decent human we could cope with the incompetence, but it’s compounded with her arrogance, foul language and abuse of her team, excluding HR leader who’s equally as mutated.

Paul your 2021challenge find 1 person who likes her, family not included.

Happy New President it’s all the rage next year.

We could also have a vote if that helps?

Monkey Survey it’s free, given we have no engagement survey this year because they are immensely scared of the results? It would be terrifying I agree.

I have summarized the major statements of the year end message. It doubles up as a response to what AB should do.

Great actions by our people.
Optimism after bondholder agreement.

Flex the fleet.
Unprecedented times.
Covid secure locations.
Know there is no way back.

Year of survival and sacrifices.
Opportunity to reinvent.
Understand tough choices lie ahead.
Reduce our costs.
Still a great deal of uncertainty.
Every person gone the extra mile.
Leaner company.
Forever iconic.

Well given Barbie is presenting her Mickey Mouse plan to the board today, one assumes they could already send the unfortunate situation no BONUS again email, not even a cupcake this time 2021 is wiped before it began that’s highly motivating?

Why wait get the letters out now guys due to the unforeseen continuing Covid situation which has significantly damaged travel, etc etc etc.

Wait but we already know this so why produce a plan you already know you can’t deliver, why is the question?

And worse no plan to deliver the plan..doomed 2021 bonus and merit gone.

On an upside furlough has been extended until April, along with your rights to not be made redundant during this time..

Happy Holidays xx A

BP2021 has been ‘created’ with all of the accuracy and honesty of previous years.

Delusional is the word.

It’s a good job Pinocchio doesn’t work for Hertz - they would have to re-roof the building and repair the walls every day. 🤥

I think he works for Octo now. CEO of the Century apparently 🤥🤥🤥 😉

I’m holding mine until I know what’s going on with Furlough.

You can send one in whenever you like - there’s a school of thought that suggests the best time is when redundancy is triggered. That way I can make sure I have all relevant information for any ‘negotiation’.

I know of at least 2 people who have sent them in.

Hertz U.K./HEL furlough will run until the end of March, leaving the furloughed stuck in limbo for 12 months.
Incredible but not entirely unpredictable.
No money for redundancy (this was said from the beginning).

  1. K. GM hiding ‘off sick’.

European leadership clueless.
The ‘do nothing’ strategy is all they have.

Find jobs, people.

Barbs is in her hols again, until Jan! She’s worked so super hard this year. Since she joined I’m now counting 15 weeks vacation, although she has to attend a one day board super sad for her. But she does hope you all have a great holiday also she will send pictures of her tree when it’s all done..and a communication letting you all know how valued you all are..while she knows 60% redundancy is coming in Jan.

See you all in 2021. Well 40% of you xxx A

Whom ever suggested employees issue Hertz with a Data Subject Access request....
good call

These requests should be sent to the company Data Controller.
I’m doubtful Hertz has such an individual so also send your request to HR and that nice girl in compliance.

Your request should reference article 15 of the general data protection regulation

If possible name the individuals who may have exchanged emails containing personal data relating to you

You should ask the following
Explain the purpose for which the data is being processed
Identify the source or sources of the data
Whom the data has been or may be disclosed to

Enclosed a copy of your drivers license or passport so there is no doubt as to your identity. Making it impossible for the company to claim they are not aware of who you are

The company have 28 days to reply to your request by law they must answer your request.

You will need to follow up yourself as Hertz will hope you just go away.

There is no recourse for you requesting this information, and if you suspected their was, you could trigger a tribunal for Unfair dismissal.

You have nothing to lose

Wait is AB giving interviews claiming awards she didn’t even win..seems Angie that Europcar actually won Europe.

Probably best to get the facts before you have Comms set up interviews about your achievements, unless your doing us all a favour and going to Europcar..this is why we named you Barbie!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Angela. I am so thankful that you are here to look after you, err sorry, I mean after us. You have given us inspirational leadership and insights only rivalled by “Walker Texas Ranger” and not just an episode, but one has to bingewatch a full season to match your managerial wisdom. Really impressive how in just 1 year you have achieved so little and learned even less. Thank you!

Don’t fret AB is announcing Dec as a month long Holiday you heard it here first 5th Dec until the 4th Jan she’s closing the already closed office and trying to gather her energy to fight into next year (5K on a flight to Atlanta Hertz is paying) ..And you don’t have to log the month in the HR system because she’s not. Happy Holidays, hopefully we do not have to endure a Christmas zoom before she goes, that crashed after round 2. Integrity was once a value of Hertz unfortunately AB didn’t get the memo.

She has also requested no cards or gifts, instead please send in your SAR forms ASAP she has 30 days to respond let’s spread the joy.

And incase your not getting live updates on the numbers 35m loss on Q3 taking her to a staggering 200+m loss YTD with Q4 crashing??

She was honest about one thing she does not do FLAT! Strange both Avis and Europcar made profit in Europe Q3, Covid is one issue but not the only one..Paul needs to get the rose coloured glasses off fast..US only lost 10m Q3 she’s sinking the company single handed, terrifying.

Keep the SAR’s coming - maybe then the US will finally see the European leadership for what they really are.

Europe is not going to survive - here’s why...

  • Customers at best are apathetic and at worst they hate Hertz. We fail them every day.
  • Forget NPS - look at trustpilot and the like. Hertz is bombing, and has for years. Stop patting ourselves on the back for cheating to achieve a meaningless metric to let a VP or Director get a bonus.
  • Incredible number of ‘Leadership’ layers across multiple business functions: SVP, VP, SBP, Senior Director, GM etc. None of them adding value, all of them justifying themselves to be retained in the future structure. What are they doing? Meetings?
  • Complete failure to adapt or change the business model.
  • Outdated enterprise systems.
  • Fundamentally flawed belief that Project One etc. will deliver the solution. It’s already out of date, not fit for purpose, and unsupportable in the future reduced organisation. It’s designed by people who can’t see the future and have replicated the failings of the past.
  • Zero use of fleet management tech.
  • Zero understanding of emerging mobility solutions due to the fixation with low tech, daily rental and other outdated business models.
  • ZERO understanding of EVs - what little strategy there is focuses on infrastructure. Why?
  • Complete inability to make decisions, and quickly.
  • Not a single youthful, entrepreneurial, visionary, intelligent and passionate person in the leadership team. When really it needs to be full of them.

None of this can be fixed as long as we have the current leadership. It’s over, because let’s face it the current leaders aren’t going to get rid of themselves.

I know someone 😉 who made a SAR in an employee dispute a couple of years ago.

It worked wonderfully. Hertz didn’t respond in the end and settled because they knew disclosing the emails would have been a disaster.

Hertz has something of a history with SARs.

The SAR is a great idea! Now AND when the redundancy process kicks off (so they can’t hide behind the excuse of the redundancy process before it starts).

Are they ending all their emails with “subject to legal and bla bla bla consultation”? That supposedly protects them from everything?

The leadership team is extremely busy.

Here is what we are doing, we have secured the waiver but only 600m that’s 50% less that what we had at the start of 2020, we also had to get the US to back it because AB was not convincing enough and all the decks she submitted had errors.

So the company is reduced by 50%, hence we are busy cutting 50% costs including you, but that’s not easy because we would prefer not to give you our money so we have FTI looking for loop holes, so the advise to do the SAR is good, because we have plenty internal emails where we have selected you based on age, race and s-x, not to mention likability, we have not selected anyone of the leadership team as we are all self preserving.

AB has also lost franchise so technically she has one job fix the countries, but she’s no idea how? And 12 months in her basic maths still defies her. But have no fear she will be presenting on another global town hall about how wonderful she is and what an amazing job she’s doing, quick look at the competitors in Europe’s results will show that’s BS, she’s loosing market share in every sector and slowly k–ling the countries one by one, David has told her and Bob this but for his honesty Tanya is hunting him down, asking the others what they think and extending his probation period, good luck David your on the list and not the good boys one I’m afraid.

But not one of these sad leaders has called out the fact AB is a disaster they all know it but are to scared to have a voice, pathetic honestly. Bring back Michel as mad as a hatter but at least understood the business.

Nah, AB’s leadership team have no balls and if possible even less integrity. I mean they are all still there saying nothing. Tanya, nothing. David, nothing. Rafael, nothing. What’s his face finance guy, nothing. Who have I missed?

Angela Brav, why are you making such a mess of this? Are you incapable, ignorant and careless?

Angela Brav’s direct reports - same question to you.

Time for all of you to step up and be better humans. You have done nothing proactive and the company is crumbling around you. Yet you focus on the same tired old metrics.

Can someone please stand up and do something useful. Even if that something useful is resigning.

In the meantime this request thing looks like a good idea.

Thank you.

Trying to scare people with your google copy/pasting?

The last poster forgot to provide the full information in a bid to head off this massive headache!!!

Here’s the full article instead of just a few convenient extracts...
https://www.shoosmiths.co.uk/insights/articles/can-an-employer-say-no-to-a-data-subject-access-request

What to do if an exemption applies

If one of the exemptions to the rules on data subject access applies, it does not necessarily mean that none of the personal data should be disclosed. Rather, the employer should review the personal data to see whether it can be redacted or otherwise removed but all other data provided.

Hertz HR - you are in trouble, and your weak attempt at extracting misinformation won’t help. The SAR’s are going to start arriving - I hope you’re ready!

There are also some circumstances where the employee will not be entitled to the data even if it is personal data relating to them. This will include:

Personal data which is covered by legal professional privilege;
References given or received about the employee;
Personal data which is being processed for the purposes of management forecasting or planning where revealing that data could prejudice the business (e.g details of a staff redundancy programme which has not yet been announced); and,
Records of intentions in relation to negotiations with the employee, where revealing these records would prejudice the negotiations (e.g internal discussions about a termination payment offer).

This is gold - Subject Access Requests are for real - just google it.

https://www.breathehr.com/blog/topic/employment-law/hr-and-gdpr-the-new-rules-about-subject-access-requests

SAR changes and your new responsibilities.

As of May 2019 there have been four key changes to existing GDPR rules, and as a result of these many businesses will need to re-think the way they manage employee data. Here's what you'll need to do.

You must provide all the personal data that you hold about the employee who is making a SAR, including anything held in an HR system, on paper, in spreadsheets, email correspondence and every other type of record.
The scope of a SAR is far reaching and includes emails that refer to an employee, their performance reviews, job interviews, payroll records, absence records and any information about disciplinaries.
The data must be provided free of charge to your employee.
All data must be provided to an employee in a secure format. If you provide the data electronically, it needs to be password protected.
Data must be provided in an easily accessible format.
The data needs to be easy to read and understand.
Businesses must now respond to SARs within 30 days (it was previously 40).
SARs no longer have to be made in writing. Employees are free to make requests as they see fit and this includes a verbal request.
