Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Class Action Lawsuit?

GAC kept us working while people had the Virus and gave us no protection. They said we were considered Essential. Since when is a brand new aircraft not even ever used yet essential? The only thing that was essential was GAC's profit. Then they use the Virus as an excuse to do what they have been doing almost every year- prop up profits by firing good workers and make the Companies numbers look good. I hope there are some Law Firms able and willing to take a stand for a bunch of people who were used and abused! I think you would have a line at your practice of ex-employees!

Gulfstream stated that Covid was the only reason to layoff people in May 2020. Ok, I understood that at that time. I don't think it was even 6 months later they started hiring. For the last 6 months they have been hiring like crazy and can't get enough people.

If Covid was the real reason for the layoff and they can't find enough people now, why are that not offering people and even turning down people who applied for these new openings (direct and contract openings) that were laid off a job?

I work in another state, for another aviation oem. We're doing layoffs as well. We're feeling the pain as much as GAC, probably more. I can say my company is doing the right thing as well as it can. It's not easy, and it's not a fun time, but at least they're trying. It's not like this everywhere, trust me, some companies actually show compassion, and treat people like humans. I still may get laid off, myself. Gulfstream used to be a good company, that's the sad thing. One thing I can say is, I'll never work for GAC again unless I'm a contractor, and I'm getting top rate. I'll get the money, get out in less than a year, before they poison me, again. Be happy you're getting out of there. The grass is greener elsewhere, hell, that's not saying much considering we're talking about the GAC. It'll hurt short-term, but it'll pass. Every time they do this, the culture gets worse and worse, because they keep the worst. It's just not worth your time.

Got the boot, as well. I thought the last one was pitiful but this sets a new benchmark for slime generation. Maybe the company can market it. They need something saleable.

I personally came to work everyday as i can't do my job from home. Still pushed the football down the field, just like Colin says. But yeah, you know better. I sure hope you react in a great positive manner when you are next in line at the unemployment office, after that GAC kicked you out with no explanation of why you and not somebody else, over the phone and with no severance package ready.
Great people who always did the right thing were let go. You'll get your turn one day. Thanks for your empathy.

Not Gulfsyreams fault you burned all you time in the first 4 months. Sounds like a bunch of cry babies that wanted to be paid to sit home. Also your bosses couldn't "force" you to work. Here's a idea....read the policy instead of being a sheep. Also you could take time off with no pay with no penalty. And as far as the lay off, well look at the rest of our competitors, they have been laying off and closing down for months already. Gulfstream held out as long as they could. So stop whining and go get another job instead of wanting free money from a BS lawsuit. Have a good day and good luck.

The company came out with an email saying if you want to take days off, you must take the whole week off. Not off Tuesday but work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. That was how I was social distancing. Take a day or two here and there. Now I have to take the whole week off? Thats how the duck they made us come to work. They knew most people were low on leave time and it would force your hand to work or go broke.

I think this entire mess is Class-Action potential, but how to start it?

I appreciate that GAC was still running to provide salaries to people, but when you see that we were told to wear mask very late in the game while NOBODY could respect social distance and mask at the cafeteria... Absolutely no enforcement. The company didn't take this virus situation seriously.

Now, the WARN act. I am very bitter about it. They are saying they were not able to foresee how bad business would be. Sure. I would like to know since when they knew they could not deliver the 14 airplanes to customers? They knew cash would not come. They did nothing. They didn't even provide any indication. Even last week, there was indication in restarting everything, but with 50% people coming in. Sounds like their plan was to just fire bunch of people.

Do they know employees are human?.... Come on.

Did you think they were going to pay you to stay home and watch Netflix?

Free to not show up on your own dime. Most people don’t have that kind of time to burn nor can afford to go without an income. So yes they made most show up to work manipulating the system.

Lawsuit? The Department of Transportation needs to send these criminals over to a Grand Jury for indictment. Nobody is above the law, not even company leaders and executives. The truth is out there when the whistle blowers get the courage to come out.
