Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

How many gone so far?

WTOC news says 700. I believe that is just the number of permanent employees and doesn’t include contractors. That number seems low for the permanent employees as well.

You guys are correct, they did not count the contractors so the numbers are not correct about how many folks were let go. I know of 2 contractors that were laid off last fall and came back only to be jobless again in less than a 2 month span. Needless to say GAC is getting a very bad reputation in the contract world. Soon they will have trouble finding contractors or the ones they get won't be worth anything, wait they kept some of those when they did the layoff last fall and they are still there.

Correct. For some reasons, we are still showing up in people directory. Typically we should wiped out. To me, we are in some kind of hidden furlough so that GAC can do their sh– over 2 weeks. The real number will show up in 2 weeks. Also... the number may be lower if they count people who are offered to come back, but not coming back because they found a new job.

699 is certainly direct employees only. Contractor cuts alone are likely to be in excess of 700.

This is just trying to make the local numbers look better by telling half truths

I don’t believe that number. I think they’re playing games with their wait until May 15th message. I believe you will see the actual number after May 15th. From the departments I’m aware of it appeared to be about a 15-20% cut at SAV.
