Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

WTOC says Gulfstream will not confirm lay-off

Per WTOC:

“Gulfstream will not confirm it. We’ve asked since Thursday when we began hearing rumors. A spokesperson there will not confirm anything. Also, no one who has emailed or called the newsroom is willing to go on the record.

I’ve reached out to the Georgia Department of Labor to find out if it’s received notification, but likely will not hear back until tomorrow.”

To the person who got laid off in 2015. Was that "substantial extra money" more than two months pay? Just curious. Although in this case, the WARN Act was triggered, so that won't be an issue.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

WARN doesn't apply to contractors, so Gulfstream has no reason or incentive to report those cuts.

The 699 are direct only, and probably don't include the pending May 15th layoffs - since they aren't, technically, layoffs yet.

More important than what they say is what they don't say, and how they (don't) say it.

Nothing they've said is a lie, but it's sufficiently incomplete that it isn't honest either.

WTOC finally ran an article this morning saying GAC reported layoffs to the department of labor using the WARN act.

As of this morning, the number for Savannah from what I am told is 2000 so far. It is pure chaos up there right now.

Even when there finally is an "official" statement, you will never see the true numbers confirmed. Just look at articles on the internet about the October layoff. Numbers range from 350ish up to 450ish. It's likely the true number is even higher.

They kept my vacation pay. Told me I was done last Friday. No severance. Said they’d tell me if I get my vacation pay on the 15th. Have insurance until the 15th. That’s it. So nothing to lose by suing. Found an attorney in Atlanta. Don’t use anyone in Savannah cuz Savannah lawyers are afraid of Gulfstream. Also, record every call. Don’t need permission in Georgia. Got that info from my lawyer.

When I was laid off during the 2015 RIF, Gulfstream violated the WARN Act and had to pay out substantial extra money to each employee. I walked away with a huge total package which helped. I forget the total number of employees and time frame, but research the WARN Act and know your rights. Gulfstream denied up until the last day that they violated this Federal act to protect workers.

Be prepared to sign away your rights to sue if you accept their "settlement". For me it was worth it due to my package. For some and depending on how this id–t company handled it, "outside counsel" might be best. Simply put, know your rights.

We were notified almost three weeks ahead of 12/15 that layoffs were coming. I researched night and day to be prepared to fight for my rights and family. Good luck to all of you - I know how it feels and how disrupting it can be to life.

I got laid off Friday. I was a contractor, I’m pretty sure many contractors will be let go but this coming week is the Direct hires. Keep your head out it’s just a job.

I got let go Friday afternoon from the Dallas Facility. I can't post my email for some reason. But yeah through a phone call.. lol Has anybody heard anything about what the severance will be? Also I saw someone in one if these posts was talking about the Warn Act. I'm sure that won't apply for this situation..

If they won't confirm that means they aren't done with the layoffs

I am starting to wonder if they will continue to say that they can’t confirm until may 15.

I wonder if they are hoping that people will find a new job, rescind the lay off and therefore you give away the severance package.

Or just make people p-ss-d of enough not to accept to go back to work and same here, no severance package.

This would be a total evil manipulation, but I wonder.
