Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Let's Be Honest

The only reason Savannah is somewhat successful is because there isn't any other aviation competition to take talent. Plus Gulfstream does pay good, so people get trapped working for dumb managers and failing dept bc they need it financially.

GD should sell Gulfstream bc the new owners would be able to clean house ALL management. A few good ones would be lost but that would be the best thing for the company.

Savannah area schools are horrid. Hes not showing his privilege. He’s being real. If you think you can cross the river and find better schools boy have I got a surprise for you. Even the HHI schools are terrible. If you can afford to send your kids to private school and don’t, you’re an irresponsible parent with messed up priorities. (And I’ve seen you guys b–ching about the Richmond Hill schools yet buying a new $50,000 boat). Even the private schools have issues you just have to s— up and deal with because there are no other options. I took the job and moved back here because of family obligations. I would take the 1st train out of town if I could.

Guy up there showing his privilege complaining about having to send his kid to Country Day. What a narcissistic.

Gac paid a boatload to relocate me here. Recruited me like mad. Had serious reservations moving my family from up north because schools in Savannah are literally abysmal. Had to pay nearly $20 grand a year at Country Day to get an adequate education for my kids. Now a mere 10 years later I’m dumped into the trash bin. Worst mistake of my career coming to this company and town. Gotta pick up and move out of this trash heap now.

for sure. Definitely got some dumb a– managers there who do not belong there and have seen plenty of capable people get passed up just because they're not brown nosers

They are a joke, I left after 4 years and when I took the job my thought was “I wish it wasn’t in Savannah” I have never worked for such a sh–ty company but I learned a lot in my time there so I have that.

We’ve usually had to take the 3rd or 4th best candidate for a job because no one wants to move to Savannah. When I hired on my feeling was “I wish this place wasn’t in Savannah”. 10 years later my feelings haven’t changed. I can only imagine being laid off right now and having to relocate the entire family because there is nothing else in the area.

Everyone except that rental car marketing lady. No clue how we were lucky enough to land her. Where would we be if she hadn’t designed that cool G?
