Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

It was a good run

22 yr GAC Vet who bleeds Gulfstream blue. Govt Programs hit hard. Hearing we had about a dozen losses. Computer access lost about noon, with cell phone service soon thereafter. Told I will receive severance info soon on my home email, but nothing yet. First time unemployed since 16 (40 years), kinda hard for this disabled vet to accept.

Got email from HR. They built in a 15 day period before they will discuss severance. To bad for us. At that point they will discuss what they’ve decided to do with our accumulated PTO. The email also clearly stated we were insured only to the 15th. But not sure how they can just cut us off. We should be covered for the month and then be able to elect Cobra. They just don’t seem to have this thought through.

You will be truly, truly missed!!! You were such an asset and I hate that you were let go. There is now going to be such a void that no one is going to be able to fill. All that knowledge that we all depend on is gone, just like that! Stay safe and healthy!!

What did they say to you? Is it temporary or permanent? I’m sorry this happened to you.

Don't feel bad. It wasn't anything you did or didn't do. You probably just made too much money which is the new norm for the totem pole ranking process. Best of luck and hope you land on your feet.
