Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Management bonus protection program.

Ah yes, another RIF to protect managements fat bonus. I’m certain they also get great pleasure out of seeing us fear for our jobs. I’ve got a mortgage and three kids in college right now. Doesn’t matter to them as long as they cut enough to keep their bonus fat. Time to stand up folks because we won’t get our share until we do. The greedy b–tards need us and we should join together to get ours. Their greed will bring them to the bargaining table and we will win great concessions. It only happens if we organize as one.

You’re right that GAC leadership doesn’t understand IT. Hell, most can barely use Excel despite extensive training.

CIO has surrounded herself with yes people and those afraid to question her. As stated, she doesn’t mingle with the underlings because she knows they could call her on her BS. GAC leadership doesn’t understand IT so they just assume what she is saying is awesome because she says it is. I will give her this, she can make something sound interesting / impressive even if it isn’t.

How did the CIO make it to LM team she is all SAP. Don't know anything about IT. The CIO add a lot of high paying job for id–ts. The CIO only talk to directors and managers not her employees. She an id–t and so is her leadership team. She costing the company a lot of money. Sharepoint s— a–, SAP don't work and win 10 failed. Why is not gone. Bad management. Oh CLPM is on of the biggest joke.

Some of the management that was let go should have been let go a lot sooner. There is still a lot that need to go because they feel they can manage people but you lead people and manage projects. They might not have spent enough time in the service or none at all.

Agree with the IT person about not being strategic. Could be and should be but not with current leadership. Moved CIO out from under CFO due to him not understanding IT. CIO successfully snowed GAC leadership and got a LT position out of it. She has commented on LT members ignorance of IT and uses that ignorance to make herself sound great. Master of the humble brag. However, IT emperor actually has no clothes.

Looks like they took the wrong mgrs in marketing too. A lot of folks that were well liked in my dep and others. Guess marketing leads still cant see the clueless c&c mgr shouldve been first to go if anybody was on the line.

You should get your facts together first. A lot of management was let go today. The ones remaining are not getting a bonus. I know, I am one of them.

Gulfstream management has made several very bad moves over the last several years. The G450 and G550 were iconic high Revenew generating and well placed in their markets.

So what did Gulfsteam do, they spend boat loads of money to develop new aircraft to compete with them self. The end result, low margins, lower sales of the new aircraft and the removal of their iconic aircrafts from the market place. Perhaps a refresh of the G450 / G550 would have been a better idea.

So what did management do next, develop a New aircraft to compete for sales of the flag ship G650. The G650 is paying the bills after the loss of the high margin G450 & G550. Now the G650 sales are down due to the new G700?

The GD STOCK IS IN THE TANK. Time for UPPER management to start to pay for their blunders. !!! No golden parachutes !!!

The writing has been on the walls since 2019, COVID just made it worse. To say it’s because of management bonuses is just ignorant. Slower than normal builds in 2019 due to Nordam. GD might have posted $706 million profit but Gulfstream lost $550 million just this first quarter due to not being able to deliver aircraft and supplier issues. Some areas have already been on furlough, now it’s just getting to laborers. There’s not one company on this planet that doesn’t make cuts when production slows and doesn’t think about their profits. Whether it’s taking pay cuts or cutting people. It’s s—s, sh–ty for most, but crying doesn’t solve anything.

Also noticed that the SOAR program, something management is not eligible for, was suspended. Have to wonder if the concept of step pay decreases based on position level were even considered.

I'm in IT, and agree with you. IT is not a strategic capability at Gulfstream. They don't like new ideas, and hate it when you step out from your job description. It should be entirely outsourced.

To save jobs GAC need too outsource IT or BT and operational business. This will bring in the cash money and people will still have jobs.

GD Declared $706 Million in first quarter profits, so must be time for draconian cost savings. You know this is just a nasty version of the common cold. All this suffering is self inflicted. So what next, shut down the entire world over tooth decay?
