Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

How many total have been furloughed by DXC so far?

From what I've heard, the number isn't that high, which honestly surprises me. I'd think DXC would use this opportunity to cut as many people as possible (first it's furloughs, then it's permanent) with little bad press. Unless they are planning a huge round sometime soon before the stay-at-home orders are lifted.

No worries the company will implode before you know it. Ride it out for the unemployment if you are in the US. Good luck. Roger out.

The furlough for US goes through July 5 but they have the option of WFR also. This is how you defer salaries. I wonder is we will even get a package at this point...has anyone heard anything?
We will not be brought back but I am older so worried about finding a job. I want the package

So employees who work for PDXC (non customer facing) and are below level 4, are those safe?

The big furlough notices (through at least July 5th) have come out across the organization this afternoon, with special "mailers" with details being sent out after 4:30 pm EDT. I am getting emails and calls from my colleagues across divisions and business units. The word is that it will include anyone not is sales, fully billable, or in a role essential to operations. Big permanent lay offs are scheduled to hit on May 22nd, with notices going out on May 8th. Some got an early word so they could try to transfer to other business groups.

Covid is the prefect excuse for layoffs, just like 911 was used by certain industries. Multinationals are unscrupulous to say the least

townhall .. blood bath at the 5 to 8 levels, so called furloughs but everyone knows what that really means. Sal showed his real side today, and it wasn't pretty. He is opinionated, c—y and incorrect in most of his statements.

A tech business layoff during covid 19 means nothing. They know it. Tech and marketing data experts aren't cubicle workers like the tv show The Office portrays as the best written portrayal of a 8-5 Mon thru Friday suit and tie job ever. Tech ppl are barely able to justify making them show up at an office as it is. Vivid 19 layoffs would be impossible. Based on Acxiom layoffs over the past 3 decades, can't leave out recently when HP came I and grabbed what they needed and were out of here due to: "lawsuit threats of job applications submitted and denied bc they were minority related" (yes, I'm not kidding-you can't make this stuff up), and First Orion being that odd business that lingers ran by ppl who you wonder are delusionally confused how obvious and vulernable they are. For example, I wouldn't try to run track again up against others I know are better at it than me. Not because I can't run still, but there comes a time when you know you can still do something, but have the competency to understand work is tech and people who think bureaucracy and corporate running of a tech company is like 1986 are there still bc of $ and denial they're done. Arkansas has way too much most don't know about. Patient grasshopper. They are sensitive and needy too. Spoiled I think as this is stupid but you must be careful. Everyone feels like they are partners and self employed and parents of those who probably could do their job plus 10 people in mobile privacy services? Hang on....it will get there eventually. Hiring at low rent pay vs not paying for talent in tech will never work. Ask a surgeon to work for 10 bucks an hour and see if they'll do it. That's not how marketing and tech works. It's easy hiring a surgeon. The people running massive databases couldn't tell you what to look for in hiring if they tried. I've seen the rosters.

@cid+14J4SoIL
I listened to the town hall. He said there will be cuts for L5-L8 (about time). He also said June and July will be "reviews" with (allegedly) raises coming in August. He was very nasty toward anyone who dare even think anything negative about the company. He has no idea what many of us (at all levels) have been through and his nastiness just shows that he is NOT a leader.

Actually not the same old Mike. Today's town Hall was direct and to the point and I am motivated more than I have been in a long long time. He talked about getting rid of management layers that are not helpful and raises fir the technical people. Of course the raises are pushed out another few months, but all in all I was impressed

Since End of Quarter is May 31, I would expect some changes Mid-May for Wall Street Quarterly Reports

big round on the way I think, the VRs aren't even COVID related so I would expect more before the July 6th back to office date. Town Hall today Apr 30th might reveal more. Same old Mikey
