Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

Why are you so happy to see B&N fail?

Honestly, do you want to see a complete Amazon monopoly in the book market? They have too much influence over prices as it is, what do you think will happen if we are a thing of the past as well? I understand you might be unhappy working here but wishing for the entire company to disappear? How does that benefit anybody?

Was lied to by management, District manager, corporate. THEY expect loyalty and honesty. They FAIL to be honest and loyal to employees.i left because of their actions. Did not wait around to be fired/ laid off/ furloughed. That’s why ,when they go under, I’ll be right up front cheering.

They could care less about their employees or their customers. I now shop at Books a Million and Amazon. Both have much better prices than BN.

I am a former employee. Why do I want to see them fail? Mostly because they do not price match. They are antiquated in their ways and they know it. If BN goes away, Amazon is not going to take over. There will still be other bookstores. Stop freaking out.

I share your sentiment. I was unfairly laid off by BN a couple of years ago , and it has been hard ever since to recover due to my age and high level of experience . However, there are some very dedicated and kind people still working there and we need bookstores! So I am hoping they do recover from this, even if with less stores .
