Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Return to work

I have been back less than a week and I already have mounds of evidence that:

  1. Social distancing is NOT being followed with managers themselves who are told not to hold meetings, holding meetings with people shoulder to shoulder
  1. Mask wearing is NOT being enforced. Manager tells you to put it back on, they walk away, mask off.
  1. Facilities is NOT trained and half assing the cleaning. They aren’t trained in the first place and aren’t receiving hazard pay even though they are the front line.

I’m a newer higher and I was so excited when I was hired on here. Told it was the best company to work for in the world.

Holy ever living hell was I disappointed.

File a Safety shear form every day and every hour if you have to , this goes up the chain to 2nd level and up. Back this with union/rep.

@ojo Nice
But it will not be shut down we are the tip of the spear an acceptable risk.
We are the experiment the first wave to see how this works out.
It’s an acceptable risk to the company it may not be acceptable to you.
We are on the front line of manufacturing, not as dangerous as medical
But at a higher risk than staying home.
Only you can weigh the risk to benefit for yourself
Drama will not help anyone it serves no purpose except to make you sick.

I think the bottom line is that anyone with a brain realizes it's unsafe. "We" are there (I'm staying home now) to keep Calhoun in Trump's good graces and to maintain the supply chain for the future, when airlines actually want airplanes, and that's a few years off. Not months, but 3-4 years. A vaccine is 12-18 months out and might never be created (SARS never had a vaccine and this is frequently referred to as SARS 2.0). Masks, hand-washing, and 6 feet( LOL) don't make it "safe" by any means. It provides an illusion of safety. Think any of the Chicago types would be found out in the 40-26 or 40-25? No way. They aren't expendables.

We need the IAM, The Teamsters, and SPEAA to shut the place down. A lot of the eggheads are working from home, so they might not care that much, but the IAM and the IBT need to join forces and say we're out of here unless it gets (a lot) better. The contracts prevent everyone going out together, but it doesn't keep workers from calling-out or otherwise making things stop. Where is the union "leadership"? Nowhere to be found. I guess they figure we're all just happy to be temporarily working.

You can stay home, but only for 7 days, then you have to go on a Leave of Absence. I'm afraid that there is going to be another Covid-19 breakout unless they get really tough on enforcing the rules.

We need:

  1. Mandatory temperature-taking
  1. Mandatory masks, with a CAM if you don't wear it. A new mask each day.
  1. Mandatory nitrile gloves, with plenty of replacements.
  1. Requirements to sanitize all smaller tools, carts, and vehicles...after every shift.
  1. Actual distancing that is enforced.
  1. Union leadership that backs us up instead of just blowing management because they think we'll be happy just working.

We are guinea pigs right now, and if you disagree, it's your right to be ignorant and think "One Boeing" has your back, because they don't. Most managers are still remote, and the really big shots aren't anywhere near the factories. That should tell you something.

Massive layoffs are inevitable, so don't get yourself sick or worse for a company that thinks you're disposable. If you want to be a sheep, go right ahead.

Please. Be smart.

Why can’t you share my fear wo oh oh, feelings

@nik+14DI0UXP No, actually I am staying home for the safety of me and my family. I do what's best for I, not a crooked company.

@avp+14DI0UXP Nobody believes that you or anybody else is ready to strike. You report to work, eat whatever c-ap Boeing feeds you, and head home, just like the rest of these whiners. Also, the union is indeed useless and nobody does a damn thing about it.

This needs to be taken seriously. Not just by the employees, but by management as well. Boeing should stay closed until the stay at home order is lifted. Like I've said before, the work that the majority of us are doing there is absolutely non essential, especially at this time.

Sorry Boeing boy, I actually agree with what you're saying. I spoke too soon before fully reading your post.

While it’s good to see how each news entity reacts to the same crisis.....it’s up to us to be able to form a reasonable personal opinion on what’s right or wrong. Each news outlet has its points but Fox in general is just utter c-ap. Same with the dingleberry right wing radio. But that’s just my opinion and I’m entitled to it.

At the end of the day, you need to take care of you and yours. You be the judge on what’s best for your case. Boeing certainly isn’t going to. We can discuss why they should or shouldn’t be open, but the fact is that they are. So again it’s up to you to decide on what you should do.

I support reaching out to the media to hold the company accountable. But be careful with it as contact without authorization is a fire-able offense. So be anonymous. Going nameless doesn’t mean your scared to say anything.

@abk+14DI0UXP Save it, Boeing boy. The fact that you think this is a joke makes you a joke.

The whole pretext of "safety" amidst Covid-19 is a hoax. One of the biggest problems is the employees themselves, many of whom still believe this virus is like the cold or a flu. When I point out that 50,000 people have already died from the "flu" in the US, they laugh at me. A solid diet of Fox and Right Wing talk radio makes for some real interesting "logic".

I went back Tuesday, and witnessed the exact same thing. Temperature checks should be mandatory, and not wearing a mask should be a CAM. So, I'm staying home too.

I absolutely do NOT trust management to accurately report cases and/or properly inform fellow employees who have had contact. They didn't do it before the shutdown, and I highly suspect they're not doing it now. There is no valid trace system to adequately track who had contact. Did they drive a cart or vehicle, and who exactly did they contact? Just walking down the 11 aisle could bring you into contact with 100 people or more.

This is just a complete joke. EVERYONE needs to have their temp taken, and eventually, everyone should be tested as well because many carriers are asymptomatic, including a lack of fever.

Stay home.

Look, everyone knows that's the case. The question is what are we willing to do about it. The answer is pretty obvious. Nothing.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm currently choosing to stay home for my safety. I suggest reporting this stuff to anyone and everyone you can. If boeing doesn't care the news and media will.
