The family is worried about their image as a "family business."
One would think that cutting associates pay by 10% (for those not furloughed) while other companies are paying their employees a bonus for working under hazardous conditions would look bad for the image as a family business.

After laying off so many long term associations so the family can put more money in their pockets you think having that CEO, ne're do well who had an affair with a co-work at another company in the past will make their image as a family business look bad! Having high level employees staggering around makes the family look bad.

I think the affair scenario is much more likely than the retirement scenario. He just upped the matching contributions for the 401k, why would he leave when the stock market and value of his 401k just dropped so much? If he was forced into early retirement, at least he probably got a good severance package. Also, he is still listed on the quad. If he quit out of the blue, I'm pretty sure they would not want to have any reminders of him. The family might not care about an affair, but they do care about their image as a "family business" and if someone threatened to complain or sue, they would not want it to get out.
You really think he quit? I have been here for 10 years. In my time every two years Follett lets the CEO go and makes up some story about why. PC RG MLS all tried to change this place and all ended up tossed aside. You think they all quit? LOL. They couldn't do enuf for the family.
They let him leave there quietly in the middle of the biggest crisis in the in the company's history? He retired out of the blue? How do you see that as quietly? The family doesn't care about anything but the family. Look what they had MLS do to long term dedicated employees just to make the family stock worth more.

PC disagreed with family and quit. TL is not capable of this role and the family knows that. These positions have a golden parachute so they will end up paying him most of his salary for a period of time. Follett would not make this change since it is a demonstration that the future of Follett is very dark.

It is sad that they send a letter to employees that we were on a temporary lay off, and they want us to come back, but yet there has been no communication to us to keep us engaged, and connected to the company. Very simple just to send out an email.
3 year contract where company buys out on term with freebies for bonafide criminal activity. This C Suite db did not quit.

I think the family didn't want to pay even his reduced salary. TL is family and already on the payroll.
