Thread regarding Hertz layoffs

Before you sign your severance agreement....

I see a lot of comments about severance pay and use of car for 90 days. Before you sign the package know you are also waiving all your rights to any future litigation! You are agreeing you will not sue or take part in any lawsuit against Hertz. Their will be some juice ones!

That is exactly why I didn't take one. However, if the company goes under is there any way to actually litigate?

Also in some states, if you sign the severance you will not get unemployment until you are done with the severance weekly pay and right now with the extra 600, unemployment is worth more so you have to balance it out and see which way is best for you.

Remember, most states in the US are "at-will" employment states. This means your employment can be terminated at anytime by you or the employer with or without cause. Therefore, the option to sue over this will be severely limited if not impossible.
And should a class-action suite actually come to fruition, the settlement may be less than the severance package before you. As it will be divvied up among everyone, after attorney fees and court costs. Assuming Hertz doesn't bankrupt fist, forfeiting all monies owed.

No way I would retire. I love working for hertz so much, it’s like having diarrhea along with having Covid and having to drink acid topped off with chlorine.

I love my hertz

This is the first time I’ve ever been laid off, so I don’t really know much. But in what instance could you sue? Just wondering.
