Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Layoffs could happen sometimes in fy21 but not in fy20

I would expect layoffs could happen sometimes in fy21 but not in fy20
Call volumes have not ceased and rushing to lay-off parr’s fo the workforce to adjust to what will hopefully be a temporary dip adds costs in onboarding. Rest assured though finance is likely running the numbers. After a certain threshold of losses and little to no sales the numbers will decide it.

People like to get on here and bemoan bad stuff leaders and are bitter about being let go because they were making 60-90k a year answering the phone or more doing something else that can be done for less. They didn’t invest in themselves and missed or didn’t have opportunities and put all their eggs in the ADP basket. Then when reality hit, their basket broke.

Invest in yourself, always keep your resume up to date and on your home email no matter who you work for
Always.

An excellent post from @2szq+14xkSbgR.

Why are some of you mentioning May 18? Is that a specific date you have concrete evidence some layoffs will occur?

I’m concerned about a lay off especially after the recent blog Carlos put out. Saying cuts will be necessary. Is he preparing us for what is to become.

@9arv+14Al9AlG - Always Expect the Unexpected.
Sales expected to land new business. Covid interrupted the plan drastically. It has Limited new business, change in expected revenue, dropped/cancelled sales orders. Due to Covid’s affect on employers and their cost-cuttings, YES it L WILL affect ADP and their need to also CUT COST, sooner than later. To think it would have NO affect on ADP is to be oblivious to statistical and economical #’s. It’s called the Domino Effect.

Plan layoffs are not the same thing being talked about here...the concern is increased layoffs due to covid. Plan layoffs are like a ball kicked. Other companies are purging workers specially due to covid. The idea that ADP will be dumping mass people because of covid is not likely at all.

Many layoffs will now be pushed back but still happening. Not on the fiscal schedule but something they have to do.

Some layoffs could still happen in 2020. It is part of plan but plans are just that....plans. They may be disguised as low performer firings or targeted groups. I doubt inbound call center teams getting slammed will continue any planned layoff.

@2szq+14xkSbgR - nice message.
Sadly, you are correct. Especially if you have been on the job for a number of years it is easy to forget to invest in yourself. Do not put all your eggs in the ADP basket. While you assume your skills are valued, you become replaceable once others can do your job for less. Even though newbies can not match my skills, work effort, and ADP experience, it turned out that cost, and pension elimination, were more important to the decision makers than was my ADP knowledge and experience.

So, keep your heads up and watch out for yourselves. Even though ADP requires many hours of training each year, do the extra outside learning so that you have options.

A less attractive VERP will be offered first, trying to sweep out existing vets. , a decent portion of whom work in tech.

Do you expect tech layoffs? ADP is hiring a ton of new grads for tech still...

Ah, so 5/18 is a Monday that's not a logical date, but 5/19 might be? I'm still confused as to why the original post isn't out here anymore. I think that poster also had an idea of what positions were being affected.

Layoffs usually don't happen on Monday. Almost always a Tuesday or Thursday.

Someone had posted that May 18th was the day the next round of layoffs were occurring - however I don't see that response posted on this site anywhere any more which is curious.
Does anyone know if the next round of layoffs is going to hit on 5/18? That would be a couple weeks after Carlos' next earnings call.

Layoffs WILL happen in 2020. It is in the plan and underway. It is happening. Wishing it won't is just ignorant.
