Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Business continuity and phone and personal internet use

In their execution of Business continuity and based on HR laws did they think about reimbursing or paying for phones, internet usage costs and phone costs for using our personal devices and data plans for WFH and daily business use? Or is that just “leadership”!?

Be careful about your Phone. They might take it away when the lawsuits start arriving.

State Farm’s not wrong at all here. It’s costing them a lot of money to re-adapt on the fly, but they’re doing it. It’s costing you nothing to keep using the phone and internet you already have. Your commute cost is now zero. You’re still getting paid by State Farm to give a half-assed effort. Shut up.

I know Comcast is waiving the fees for exceeding data caps for the next 60 days. Even if that affected me, I among many others greatly appreciate being able to WFH vs. being laid off and it is saving a TON of money in gas and wear and tear on my vehicle!

Many "WFH" companies require you to have your own internet, computer, phone, etc... it's a luxury many people already have but some cannot afford. I'm happy to WFH using what I already pay for just to save my health, time and gas money. This one State Farm got right.

The company has allowed for most of its employees to work from, which is a huge blessing too many and people are really complaining about phone and internet use reimbursement. How about look at how much the company is saving you in GAS, traveling expenses , etc. People complained about not being able to work from home, the company has generously allowed this and people are still complaining. Be grateful and thankful while it last and save the complaining for when it’s time to go back to the office and you no longer have the luxury from working from home. Out of fairness to the company they have done a lot and remember there are lots of people who are still working in public places who do not have the luxury to work from home. So can we please give SF a break.

@cgt Yeah, it's like the deranged complaining that the POTUS and VP get COVID-19 tests every time they've been exposed when "you and I can't get one when we want one". Uhhhh, hello!? Much like the country, some people are VIP when it comes to the decision making, chain of command, and order of a Fortune 50 company, especially during an unprecedented crisis! A lot of people are getting under my skin as their true colors are coming out over the most ridiculous of things. There are real problems, and this thread isn't addressing any "real" problem at all!

XCQU-LOL. You must be 70 years old! That hasn’t happened in 15 years! You think “IT Services” whatever that is, is helping someone set up their iPhone or laptop? Are your 8-tracks holding up ok?

Come on, how many people are truly incurring additional expenses due to this? I have had a home broadband internet connection with basically unlimited data and a cell phone with unlimited minutes, texting, and data for many years now. Seems petty to expect the company to pay for that now just because we're using what most of us already have to WFM during a crisis. Many things are far from perfect, but not this. How much time and gas are you saving?

The top-tier execs get IT services performed at home, by SF workers, on the clock. You mean you don't get that too?

Its obvious the business continuity plan needs a little work. The plan should include a provision to evacuate the entire buildings. Who did not think this through?
