Everyone is in the dark until yesterday, I do not want to complain much but this is somewhat unfair. We are the people who do grunt work everyday.
I feel like Marriott has too many "talkers" who focus on initiating meetings rather than doers. Too bad, CEO is a really good person but I can't say the same for many Sr Dir and VPs who pushed their teams to limits to please stakeholders.
Wipeout in the IT (IR) area on Friday at HQ, an unbelievable percentage of IT workers put on 60 day furlough. Even critical systems, some already running lean, are down 50% in staffing. Others are decimated even up to director level. No surprise, given the new budget numbers they spoke of a few days ago that made us wonder how they can pay any employees at all after laying out future money for the hardware and software leases which now are the bulk of the budget. Running the IT systems on a shoestring now, so let's just hope nothing goes wrong for two months because the skills have been walked out the door.
That’s correct / they were extremely greedy with the starwood merger and laid waste to all the most talented starwood employees because they were threatened by them - they kept all the most political ones who would bow down and kiss the ring of mr Marriott and the navy suit and red tie politics - leaders keep pictures of Mr Marriott in their office lol - then they used all their profits from the merger to reward themselves and do nothing for to create value for shareholders or employees - brutal leadership from VPs up , lame political culture and lame fake people
When Marriott benefitted from the 2017 tax cuts to the tune of $1B, instead of putting it back in the business, taking care of lower level associates and saving for a rainy day, they spent billions on stock buy backs to inflate the price and gave enormous bonuses to its executives. Completely incompetent leadership. Yes, Arnie is not taking a salary now, but the executive team and every SVP should give up their salaries as well. Maybe even pay associates out of their own pockets. They can afford it, while the "little people" cannot. Core values my a–.
