Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle Furloughs

Do you think they will furlough us? Or at least some of us? The schools will likely be closed through the end of year, so you are looking at parents who will have to stay at home. On top of it, if we follow the Italian path, stuff will get worse before it gets better - we'll peak in April.

Things are ugly.

I think we'll go to some kind of pay cut or maybe one week working one week off arraingement...

If you work 120 miles away from the place you applied for a job for, it's totally the employer's fault for making you come to the office!!!

I'm sure if you spoke with your manager they would consider any reasonable request to work at home !

@2otn+1431WxKQ, what organization at O demands even people who live 120 miles away drive into the office? Even when RS was running Support, if you lived more than 50 miles from a call center you were exempt and considered "remote".

The layoffs look like they are currently on hold. I expect that LE is waiting to see how much money he is going to get from the federal government before he makes any decisions. Money might have strings on it, and he might not get to spend it all on stock buybacks. You should hope for strings that say he has to retain workers, rather than just a free handout. A free handout with no strings means money will go into stock buybacks and the continuous rolling layoffs will continue.

People live more than 120 miles away and Oracle still want them work in office few days a week and refuse to let them work from home, now you get it?

A pay cut might not be out of the question. MH did that at HP that last time the world melted down.

When asking questions like this, the answer is pretty simple. Look at the history of the past 10-20 years and ask yourself "had the company actually looked out for its employees or has it treated us like expendable cattle".

Yes, I'm sure Larry will let everyone come live on his private island if they need to.

Don't be silly. Oracle doesn't do those little things. It lays its employees off.
