Thread regarding Aetna layoffs

Are temporary or contract workers still required to show up each day, or are they allowing remote work currently.

I have a question in regard to temporary and contract workers that were required, at least when I was employed there many months ago, to show up each and every day. They only allowed permanent workers, or at least the option, to not show up each day, although some had to come in during the week on some days, and others seemed to come in even less, or hardly at all it seems. I wonder if this policy is still in effect because although I do not generally keep in touch with former colleagues, the temporary and contract workers, that I had worked with, were very professional and genial. I guess I am somewhat concerned. If anyone has seen or knows of a change in this policy, please comment. Thank you very much.

Thank you. So are you aware if the temporary employee workers were let go, or did they give them the ability to connect from home and remote work at this point. There was no option available for temporary and contract workers to remote work. That is why I'm asking. I appreciate your response. However it seems a bit vague. I'm asking specifically about the temporary and contract workers. If you're not sure, I still appreciate the response. Considering there were a lot of very much older workers employed in some departments, this policy of letting people stay home if feeling ill, should have been encouraged. This policy should have been applied with even a regular flu or cold. There should have been an understanding that even having a minor cold could lead to pneumonia, so I never really understood this insistence to encourage workers to come in, even while sick or to make people feel bad for not showing up on a daily basis, or using a sick day, in my own personal experience. A lot of workers, no matter what the age they are, also have underlying health conditions, especially prevalent in the united states, so to discourage them in not saying they are sick, seemed a bit troubling to me, considering this company was involved in health insurance also.

Things in this regard are much more kind and human nowadays. Everyone employed has liberal leave judgement and no one HAS to be onsite. Not sure about call centers though.
