Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Thots on COVID-19 Handling?

I’m curious about what employees think of how the company is responding to the virus outbreak? Have employees been kept informed routinely? Has ther company been proactive? Do employees trust their leadership? Does anyone think the leaders actually care about employee health and well-being? It’s a healthcare business. Shouldn’t they always be prepared for a health crisis?

Layoffs based on what facts? HCSC is in an important industry sector, especially in a time like this. Laying off contractors is one thing. But getting rid of employees is another thing. It would be shortsighted at best.

It is now May 14 and we've been remote since March. But not all employees, there are some that where still asked to go into the office (mailroom, printing, etc.) To be honest, considering the economic downturn, its only a matter of time before there are additional layoffs. We are shedding contractors like flies. Once we're done shedding them, they'll start looking at FTEs.

Well said .... us “laid off” folks can’t find a job right now and what are we going to do???? Much of the senior leaders are there to take care of themselves and the ones that follow because the followers are scared to challenge their leaders who “think” they know it all and can’t stand to allow someone in their circle that brings ideas.....so get rid of the ones that might challenge the status quo.

You all are a big bunch of whiners. Put yourself in the shoes of those who were "LAID OFF", so that you who are complaining could keep your job! Then put yourself in the shoes of those who were "LAID OFF" and now cannot find a new job. And then go talk to the bonehead boardroom b–tards who make the decisions on who to LAY OFF, on who needs to stay, work, and possibly die, so that they can continue to line their pockets with blood money and the salaries of all those who were let go.

Confront the source. Confront the Devil(s). Confront Maurice and all of his puppet MASTERS. It is the BOARD and the LEADERSHIP of HCSC that will be the death of us all.

Here is an idea. Maybe BCBS should test all employees when required to return to the office. Be groundbreaking set the bar for a safe return.

The door opens both ways feel free to let yourself out. I bet you don’t complain that the check still comes on payday. Lots of other workers have to show up everyday during this crisis, some people have been laid off and wish they could go to work and you’re complaining that they didn’t let you go home fast enough.

Well I'm still going into the office today (Non HQ Site) to work. There are a bunch of sick people showing up and coughing/sneezing all day long. The rumor mill is that we might be sent home to work after today but I'm not counting on it. Meijer had a better response for their employees than HCSC did. Guaranteed paid sick time during this event plus more. They should have just sent us home with pay until they figured out how to deploy all of us home. God forbid they loose a little bit of money and productivity during a world wide pandemic event.

After witnessing the way my wife's work handled this, I am disgusted with HCSC's blatant disregard for the health of their employees. Her job, at a company larger than HCSC went 90% telecommute in the span of a single day. There are still thousands of HCSC employees being required to work in-office, in ludicrously tight spaces.

I think they’ll make it through just fine. Everyone is in panic mode because they were already in a mess of a transition and this caught them off guard.
I think they were ill prepared for something this big, but then again everyone was even hospitals and the government.
Maybe they will see that they need to prepare to move to remote access for everyone in the future. First responders and hospital workers and restaurant worker and so many others are still face to face. We can do our part.
Send the elderly and sick home on PTO and let the rest of us who are able do our part. This generation is so spoiled and scared of everything it’s frustrating. Stand up for once instead of crying and complaining of what people didn’t do for you.
