If you’re an office worker at Windstream the shelter in place and work from home policy is smart. It limits exposure and lowers the contagion curve. The policy for the front line field employees not so much. It’s basically business as usual. It was actually suggested on a recent call that we carry a bar of soap and some water with us. When we’re done at a clients site we should “wash our hands on the side of the truck”. Being that this virus is air-born, soap won’t help me if I breath in a sneeze at a clients site. Currently COVID-19 has a 1.96% fatally rate in the US. The flu is .13%. There is a reason people are taking this seriously. One infected technician, driving all over a large area, could infect 50 clients during a week. As operations I get we can’t quit operating for 2 weeks. But we can at least limit technician exposure for two weeks. One idea would be to shelter in place unless needed for a trouble or an outage. Another would be to limit the number of new installs per day this would at the very least limit exposure. I don’t think their current response is strong enough. Just my opinion

We have techs quitting now due to unsafe working conditions...only getting worse
I am usually on the WS side..they pay me pretty decent for what I do but this post nailed it on the head. "We will take care of you, your safety is number 1....but we wont give you any protection and you cannot miss any appointments for any reason"
And Windstream wasn't even mentioned during the press conference by the president. That is how much Windstream service really matters. Don't k–l yourself for over this.
I know of 5 persons in Little Rock that deserve to get this virus.
Agreed. We have team meetings and my manager just bad mouths other teams and points out their errors. All while our dept s—s just as bad. And zero communication across teams. I havent spoken to another person employed by windstream in about 2yrs. We only speak with people overseas in outsourced positions.
we should be nid only right now. nothing past the nid. tie a long i/w to the nid with a jack on the other end, and let the cust run it through a door or window until all this is over with.
I agree, do not do business with this company. Outdated technology, overseas support, and the possibility that if they go under you are stuck holding the bag.
For you would be and current customers, here is how you should think of this company, executive greed in the lead. Worst managed company in the country making executive millionaires. They can’t even communicate across the VP level. They keep preaching teamwork but all departments can’t stand one another!! What a joke. The only thing that matters here now is that HR keeps changing the handbook to rip off, not just hourly people, but all employees not in the executive level. The attitude at this place is in shambles.
Wait till multiple techs in the same market get it. We’re already short handed. There will be one dude left to man the store
