Are promotions in global supply chain based on performance? How long do they expect you to stay in grade?

In GSM, promos are based on gender, orientation, skin color and as always, booty kissing

Promotions can vary at Intel. There are the standard "wait X years" between grades that are usually pitched by all managers. However, what they don't tell you is this is not the only way to get promotions nor is it the rule. I have seen many folks go from 5 to 6, 6 to 7, 7 to 8 in 3 years. I've seen some take several years between grades. I've also seen some folks enter in as grade 7 or 8 and within 4 years they're now 4 grades higher. The trick to realize is if you have a significant individual/manager that can sponsor you, you can bypass most of the "performance" and "logic" based promotions that are written on paper. Also, jumping positions internal to the company also enable you to also ask for the next grade up as long as it is posted that way. The slowest possible method for promotions is "performance." In order to accelerate quickly within Intel, you have to know the landscape and navigate the political gauntlet well. My last suggestion is to sign up for what Intel calls "Technical Assistants." If you can become a TA for a high-level exec (General Manager or above) you can quickly also move up the Grades without abiding by the limiting X years between grades. Hope this helps.

No answer is bettern than the truth: "Promo is base on peformance/results/scope and limitted by budget."

I'm sorry, but but this is the way the system works...

New this year promotions have there own allocated budget and it is based on your current grade. They always talk about scope... It's BS. Lower your current grade, higher percentaghe should be moving up.
