Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

Grass is greener

Thankfully, I was laid off last year. DCG is the worst place to work. Completely demeaning. Getting laid off was the best thing to happen to me. Got my finances in order. Got a much more stable job. Absolutely loved and appreciated. Has a retirement path which could never be done at Lenovo because of worry of losing your job. Now, in 15 years I will retire and never have to touch my 401k from IBM and Lenovo. The biggest benefit. . No more mental strain or health issues from that environment

I thought this should be on top for those who might be stressing over incoming layoffs. The original is @14qvj+12rE0WWw.

I would be careful and not spend all of that idg bonus yet. It snaps back every few years and the finger pointing and politics take over.

That is true, dcg and idg are like two separate companies. In idg people are getting 300% bonuses and large raises and in dcg they are getting 0 and are being laid off. It is only a myth and some clever corporate financing that makes it look like one company. In reality the two pools of employees have little in common and the success of idg helps little to dcg employees.

I'm actually curious how many of the negative comments on here are from DCG people. I moved from DCG to PCSD and the difference is night-and-day. Although Lenovo execs may ultimately be at fault, DCG is what's toxic.

So true. I’ve been getting raises of 4-5% while my colleagues at Lenovo receive almost nothing and get treated like dirt.
Look for other jobs while economy is good

Strongly Seconded. Don't waste more of your life in a failing business full of corrupt good ol' boys and narcissists. It may prove easier to find work while you are still employed. At the very least put out feelers to gauge your market relevancy.
