True story:
I was legacy CSC, working in North America, in Delivery. Hadn't gotten a raise since coming on in 2013. A year after the merger I get a retention bonus of $19,000. Half immediately, half in one year if I stay. That was early 2018. In August 2018 I got performance bonus. Much smaller but still nice considering I hadn't gotten anything until then. 2019 rolls around and I get the second half of the retention bonus. Then out of nowhere I get laid off.
I knew they were happening, but since I had finally gotten bonus money out of them I figured I was safe. Apparently not. I got my severance, took a month off to relax, and got a job making 18% more than I was getting at DXC.
So, for the record, DXC did give bonuses. I was shocked to get them and even more shocked when it didn't mean they were going to keep me. So glad I got booted. So happy to be out of that ridiculous place.
