Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Who is buying who?

Anthem has a larger membership and is for profit.
HCSC reserves dwarf Anthem’s at $19 billion dollars in 2019.

Or is Cambia/Regence blue cross on target for a merger?

I could see BCBS Michigan, but Maine is an Anthem plan.

“IF” Anthem & HCSC merged, make no mistake about it, Anthem would “take over”...no doubt. It would be very difficult, however, given the regulators would need to approve HCSC go from Mutual to Stock/for-profit. There are also the massive EGOS, would Milton Carroll allow Gail Boudreaux to take over the new company when he hand-picked Pat Hemingway Hall over Gail for HCSC CEO 10+ years ago? Seems unlikely bu t that’s just me. If I was a betting, I’d say look at other mutual Blues or acquiring non Blue assets/membership. They need to GROW!
