Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Windstream - Uniti updates

There’s a thread for Uniti investors on seekingalpha.com where a poster by the handle of “Wyco Researcher” posts his observations from yesterday’s hearings in bankruptcy court:

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4322759-windstream-and-uniti-group-are-finally-headed-to-trial

He made his original long post at the top of the page before the hearing; it’s his observations during and after the hearing that are interesting.

There’s a lot of arguing back and forth about all of this among seekingalpha regulars. They use bigger words and better spelling than folks here. On the other hand, they are much longer-winded. The legal technicalities are pretty confusing, at least to me. People on that site have strong opinions but I’m not sure they’re any more knowledgeable than I am - just more c—sure.

Still, I think it’s worth a _skim_, especially Wyco’s direct observations. (Some were made real time in the court room and are typo-filled).

Settlement talks are heating up between both parties and there are links to negotiating positions they’ve taken.

If no settlement is reached, the trial on the Uniti lease’s validity will be in March.

I'm a customer trying to understand this stuff.

What is "Enterprise"? The CLEC? If so, that's a lot of faith in the CLEC business.

If enterprise makes up nearly half company total with wholesale broken out that doesnt leave much for SMB customers. Are they planning on shutting down the SMB side of the business.......again? Wasnt that long ago windstream told their SMB customers they had to leave

"Windstream, Uniti mediation intensifies"
"Settlement talks between Windstream Holdings Inc. and Uniti Group Inc. are picking up again as the two Little Rock companies near a court battle scheduled for March 2. Bloomberg News reported Wednesday that lawyers for Windstream told a federal judge in New York that mediation between the two communications companies has intensified."

This is Windstream's filing of "cleansing materials". It includes the most recent negotiating position.

Of more interest to folks here is the section at the end after "Executive Summary" – it's effectively Windstream's plan for after bankruptcy starting on p. 30. It still shows substantial "Enterprise" revenues - about 40-45% of the company total. Annual new investment in Enterprise will be $175 to 200 million. Enterprise does not include Wholesale, which is broken out separately.
