It’s been two years, today that the best employees BN had, were laid off ( FIRED). If any of you are on here, how are you doing ?!
( whether anyone admits it, or not, YOU ARE MISSED. Nothings been the same & BN is worse off for you being gone !)

I too left after BN’s ridiculous move to save money on health care. Obviously no future with this company. ( and no future for such a company).“
New owners.
Same old c-ap.
Nobody’s happy there.
Just collecting a paycheck because they’re waiting to find something else or they’ve got no ambition to look.
That's right - no February layoffs! I need you people to understand that BN is now a private company so that old fiscal calendar is just that - OLD! No longer valid. You won't even see articles describing how poorly BN is doing. It's private. okay?
THAT’S RIGHT...
You won’t know how poorly BN is doing, because they’re private.
And when they close stores or eliminate jobs, you won’t know it’s happened. Unless it happens to you.

There will be NO Layoffs in February.
Just deal with it. 4 days left. NO LAYOFFS!
Yeah, you’re safe.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hope you’re the FIRST to GO.

“ WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SUPPOSED FEBRUARY LAYOFFS?
All this fear and dread on her and NOTHING HAPPENED.”
February is NOT over yet !

Stores are closing !
Barnes using rent increases as excuses to close stores.
If it was just the rent, they’d announce their relocation in the area.
Can’t wait till that miserable company goes under ! Treat their employees horribly and their customer service has become non existent.

After 17 years. I was let go from my Barnes career. Bitter? YES. I never called out, showed up during storms while those less than a mile called out, I could go on & on. I was let go while booksellers that just showed up , phoning it in ,were kept. Stopped in the store only once, soon after. Some booksellers, I thought we’re friends, treating me like I was some problematic employee that was finally let go. Got hired by another company right away. I feel more appreciated there, less stress. I’m much happier ,but yeah, still bitter about being treated like disposable trash.
I keep in touch with the people let go in Feb. 2018. 2 found new jobs quickly. 2 returned to BN as part timers making less money ( the whole reason for the mass firing !) and 1 has gone through 2 jobs since BN wouldn’t rehire him.
The company really did these dedicated employees dirty !
Glad you’re doing well. Lots of Ex employees still wallowing in bitterness ( not that I blame them).
BN has made a LOT of bad decisions ( and continue to) that drive loyal customers ( and employees) away. They will NEVER be the same respected, great company they once were.
Best thing that could’ve happened! Didn’t realize how miserable I was. Also learned that most of the people I worked for& with, were liars. Got a great new job. Less strenuous, MUCH less stressful.
Will laugh my a** off watching stores close & the management that lied to me end up in the same situation they put me through.
