Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Still not over it

Am I the only one who feels even worse now that the layoffs are (supposedly) done and the office seems like a ghost town?

I really thought I would feel better once this whole thing was over with...

For those of you laid off on 2/6... if you have denied a bonus check the policy on bonus is:
"To be eligible for an incentive award, you must be an active employee at the time such payments are made (the check date). Employees who terminate employment prior to the date incentive awards are paid are not eligible for any awards.

However, employees eligible for severance or separation pay (or equivalent) will be eligible for a year-end RRP award if the last day of employment is between January 1 and the payout date."

Payout is 2/21 so those who's last day are Feb 20th you ARE eligible for bonus per the policy. Do not let them tell you you have to be employed on 2/21 that contradicts the policy. Of course you have to meet the performance standards as you would with any bonus. Go to your manager, go to HR and file a grievance and seek legal counsel.

What departments did this affect?? Because they are being tight lipped... I can't see how you are able to focus with that hovering. How many were laid off?

Another round of layoffs in March.

If they made me sit for two weeks, I’d trash their system. People should start withholding their knowledge to cripple the processes in their department by making themselves vital. For myself, my team is the only ones that can complete a certain process and we won’t share that information with anyone.

Oh my gosh I can’t believe they expect you to work for 2 weeks! I am so sorry for what you’re going through!! Personally they wouldn’t get much out of me for the next 2 weeks if that happened to me..
I will never say I feel safe or get comfortable anymore within UHC/UHG. No one is safe from what I gather by reading all of these posts!!!!! This is horrible and very depressing- way to boost MORALE upper management and CEO’s- way to go!! Aren’t you happy with what you’ve done thus far!? 🙄
UHG/UHC/Optum employees who are currently employed just LOVE our jobs and love this game you’re playing! 😏🙄
We Can’t wait for another cleanup of incorrect data, claims, and unhappy providers and customers we get to be stuck with fixing and that we will be hearing from soon, because you’re laying off talented and brilliant people - I’m not sure if I WANT to be with this company who I’ve sacrificed everything for, for the last 16 years!! This company claims to have SUCH COMPASSION FOR OTHERS! Ya right! obviously you’re NOT talking about your employees when you’re speaking of compassion, values and integrity
We are a mess compared to reading other health insurance message boards. UHC is now being known for the company who is famous for layoffs. Way to go UHC, way to go! sleep tight!

Don’t know I still have access. I was told last Thursday was my last day and shut my computer down Thursday at 5pm. I’m waiting for my box. I’m done.

I was let go 2/6 and still have access. I was advised wisely by a sr leader to stay off Jabber unless I'm attending a work related meeting.

In response to the person who stated "Yet, WAH still have access" unless something has changed, this might NOT be a true statement - I was laid off in during the July/Aug 2019 wave and was a WAH employee, our access was terminated at the end of the day we were notified, they shut down the smart card and locked you out of the system - a couple of my peers did work beyond the notification day BUT that was only to allow for transition of processes they owned, once that was completed, they were locked out as well

We have been discussing the whole "work after you have been laid off"
In our meetings to announce that lay offs had taken place, they said company policy is to allow access to those laid off, only to work on resumes, apply for other jobs, get benefits in order and use EAP. They were not to be working.
We even heard of those laid off on 2/6 having access shut down within an hour of being laid off, and having to pack and leave.
Yet, WAH still have access.
I'm questioning in what type of scenario do they have you continue to work after lay off???

@nad- i have been in ur shoes before. Got laid off but needed to work a couple more weeks to transition my work and get my severance. It’s degrading and infuriating. The only thing I kept telling myself was that it provided an additional two weeks of pay and time to prepare. I used every moment that I could working on my res and applying for jobs. Take care of yourself and know that UHG’s behavior says much more about them than it does about u.

I've had a few people contact me this morning who are still there and miserable. I really feel for them, but I keep it positive for them. They need to decide what's best for them. I was in their shoes and I don't miss it, even though it's only been a few days.I don't miss those Monday's and playing the game of "who's next". I honestly doubt if a job came into my email today if I would take it with UHG. A few days really did work wonders to put things in perspective.

Well, you could be in my situation where I was laid off with two weeks notice. I have to keep going to work like a dead woman walking. It's Monday morning right now, I have never been so sick with anxiety in my life. It's humiliating.
