The WARN for lake Grove was just posted today- closing may 6th which means it lasted just a few months over 50 years.
What do you think will happen to the mall with sears and jcpenny gone and Macy’s as the only Anchor Left inside the mall. It is definitely not dead despite losing those stores and always seems to be crowded ehen I go; especially Macy’s during Xmas time. I think the location helps but I don’t know of many stores that can fill the Sears space that don’t already have a location in Lake Grove. Do you think they'll find a new tenant or knock it down like they did to Sterns?
It’s too bad this sears is closing. It’s my favorite store design of the 3 Sears left on Long Island. I like when individual department stores have there own unique design instead of just looking like plain boring boxes or when all the stores in a chain have the same design.

id–t links person foiled again. I think he really is the Kmart troll (both of them–that keep responding to themselves)

That page has newly filed WARN notices today for Horseheads Sears, Poughkeepsie Sears, and 34th Street NYC Kmart, all with closing dates of May 4, but none yet for Lake Grove.
NY WARN notices are posted here: https://labor.ny.gov/app/warn/default.asp
However, there isn’t one for the Lake Grove Sears on there yet.
are WARN notices posted online somewhere?
Yes May 6th is the last day according to the warn notice. The building was sold. Was not originally on the list. It was added last minute.
Any information on the other Long Island Sears locations? Massapequa and Valley Stream?
I do not believe there is an actual link for this one on the Internet yet, but from what I've been told this location will be closing in early May. Yes...this is the first one known to be closing in May, but there supposedly will be others announced to close in early May as well.
The early May stores are part of "phase 2" of the recent announcements. From my understanding there will be approximately 10 more stores announced for May closure in the next week or so.
I'm not sure of the breakdown between SEARS/Kmart, but I would expect most of the remaining Kmarts to be rolling onto the chopping block very soon. I wish I could say more, but I just can't at this moment.
This would also be a Wednesday closing, instead of the more typical Sunday.
How did you find this out?
If correct, this is the first one I've seen with an announced closing date later than "mid-April".
