Sears Grand land is extremely valuable and the auto center is the most profitable one left in the company.

Concerning the Sears Grand in Thornton Co., which is the last Grand in the country, it's so dead an urban explorer even did a video to document the last days of the company. I suspect it's only still operating because the land isn't valuable. The final closing announcement for all the large stores has to be coming soon. And the Hometown stores can't be far behind.

Handfuls of stores will conclude their liquidation sales Feb 16, so indeed .ore liquidators will be freed up to move on to new liquidations/closings.

Store closing were announced Tuesday and by Friday liquidation started. It seems they are rushing to close them before mid April. To see how fast it takes to close stores with hardly any merchandise. So the next wave will be all together, Sears/kmart, and be shut down before May.

One more cheer for Westwood. It's the only Kmart left in Bergen county and that counts for something.

I was there Friday. Inventory looks better than a few week's ago.

I'm still not optimistic though.

@twi+13p4MbRN... Somebody’s gotta cheer for my Westwood Kmart! Somehow good ‘ole Westwood has managed to survive the ax thus far!

Last check Walnutport wasn't a lease store. That was the issue with wind gap with a very high lease. It don't matter anyway, all Kmarts are going bye bye.

Sears Grand in Thornton, Colorado. Super busy auto center and in a massive growth area.

Thanks for the clarification RE Walnutport's facility. In regard to the closing, if October, the announcement would probably be in August, as two months kooks to be the time frame between announcement and closing. Of course, the way things are going, any announcements could be sooner.

The Wind Gap location must have had a seriously interested buyer, hence the earlier-than-expected closing.

To clarify a comment in this thread, the Walnutport PA Kmart is a leased facility. The Columbia and Kingston facilities are Seritage owned in eastern PA.

Big Bear Lake Kmart has been told that the store signage on front of building is "changing" to a new sign in April.....

Wind Gap wasn't supposed to close so they were told. But alas it's over for them. Walnutport does well but heard an October date for them. All will go very soon I guess.

I thought Wind Gap, Pa., would be one of the last, given there's no Walmart/competitor in the near vicinity (not for some 10 miles-plus). But, alas... Not sure how the Walnutport location performs, though I read in another thread that it was owned property, not leased- not that that makes a difference in the end.

Guam is the last one for Kmart until someone offers money for that property- one of the cronies owns that location. For Sears, there won't be any full stores left, only Hometown. That's the almighty's wish, to own no Kmart or Sears, but the Hometown/Home&Life, whatever Home it is!

@hlm+13p4MbRN and @uft+13p4MbRN There are still Kmarts in Minot and Minneapolis remaining so there are two other Midwest Kmarts open (for now anyway).

@hlm+13p4MbRN One Kmart left in the Midwest: Marshall, MI. Unless I've missed an announcement about that one.

At 1 time I thought it would be the stores closest to corporate. The Kmart is closing in April and the Sears is consolidating to 1 floor. No Kmarts left in the Midwest.

It probably won't be just one store. I expect to see a final group of 20-25 stores in the end.
My bet is on Hackensack, NJ and Brooklyn, NY being among them.

And the Guam Kmart is unique enough that it might not close at all. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets sold and continues operating.
