Doom-sayers on this Board

I wouldn't worry about getting laid off. just do your job and don't listen to the doom-sayers on this board. if you are worried about it make sure your resume is up to date and look for another job either within the company or outside it. i wouldn't dwell on being laid off.

Get out of here HR! 7k people laid off. And you don’t want to worry tomorrow you could be unemployed? Tomorrow you could working a 12 hour day cause your boss says this has to be done ASAP. Well, guess what? It needs to be done before security escorts you out tomorrow. You ever see someone work themselves to the bone to meet a deadline and then get escorted out in front of the entire floor? You ever walk over to their cubicle the next day and see the picture of their kids just sitting there?

Piss off! This is a reality check that this company doesn’t care about YOU!

To the original poster, if getting a job is that easy then everyone would be happy and content with their career. Let's be realistic here, finding and keeping a job is not easy. There used to be a time, when hard work and dedication can get you longevity in a company. That's not that case anymore. You spend your time building up skills and reaching higher salary levels, but if you get fired, it's hard to find a company willing to accept you at your current pay level. You may have to take a hit, or start from entry level again. If you lack a degree in a job that's you've done for a long time, you now have to consider schooling or starting a new avenue of work. Either choice may cause a hit to your bank account. What about those who are over 50? It's harder for them to secure new employment than someone who is 25 years old. Insurance premiums are higher for them and sometimes employers may not take the liability, even though they are hard, experienced workers that would be an asset to any company. I'm in my thirties, and its hard for me with experience and a degree. Fyi- doing your job has nothing to do with layoffs. Hard work means nothing if it cheaper for them to get rid of you, than to keep you.

For someone that doesn't believe all the info on this site (which has been proven accurate), you sure feel the need to peacock around and comment on every post. You seem like a very angry and bitter person that really needs to find something else to do during work hours besides visiting this site. If you don't like what's on here, then stop looking at it. It's really not that hard to do. Remember that karma s—s and your job may be next.
