I was impacted by the 12/4 Optum layoffs and one thing I will say is that the job market is really good. I started a new job, I was able to choose from 3 different jobs. Not the first time I've been laid off but this one was different, it was callous, heartless and mean but again a really good job market made the landing much better.

Thank you so much for posting this information. I'm a telecommuter and agree with feeling out of the loop on stuff. I go into the office for the bigger team meetings and I've noticed a different vibe in the Blue Circle Drive buildings but couldn't put my finger on it. Now I know why.....

A coworker shared this site with me last week and all these layoffs are concerning. I've heard almost nothing about them! I've shared this site with coworkers both at UHC and Optum and will continue to do so. I know that no job or company is safe, but I'm going to get my stuff in order in case I'm next. I'd want to be informed and prepared when it's my turn. I've been with UHC close to 6 years and love my job and what I do. This is the first time I'm seriously thinking about getting outta here.

The lack of transparency from senior leadership about all of this is just appalling. Since when do record profits, huge executive bonuses and massive corporate tax cuts = waves of layoffs?

To whomever is getting this information: Please keep up the excellent work! You are helping more people than you'll ever know! I hope more people have the courage to post on here.

To everyone affected by the RIFs: I had no idea all of this was going on and my heart goes out to you all. I hope you find new roles at a company that appreciates, respects and values you.

As an FYI, if you look back on posts.. All of this was known back in October. At that time there was a guarantee of at least 3 waves. Oct, Dec and March. There has been one major layoff event each month since October. So, for the most part, this prediction has been accurate. The sources say that Optum is whom will be hit in March as UHC was hit in Feb.

With that said, when your leadership meets with you and says that these layoffs are done. Or that they don't know about any future layoffs, you know they're straight up keeping the information from you and if they're willing to pull the wool over your eyes about that, what else are they lying about?
How can they expect you to trust them when you know they're flat out lying to you? How can you trust THEM? There's no way that Sr Leadership in ANY dept. Hasn't been told about these waves if that information has been circulating since October.

I'm at the point where I honestly don't believe anything they say. I smile and nod, but in the back of my head I think "That's a lie", "and that's a Lie" "That too". Even if I'm wrong, what difference does it make?

@uud, I’m with UHC, in C&S. I will definitely be checking the site and looking for ur posts. I feel like ur also correct about March. It doesn’t feel like this is the end of layoffs. Thanks again.

@qai...I also WFM & was with the company for decades before I was laid off in 2019.

Telecommuters were targeted on the 10/02/19 RIF. Glad you made it this far. Do you work on the UHC OR Optum side of UHG?

I will only post facts and the truth.

I am hopeful the media will pick up on the layoffs but UHG has so many trolls and lobbyists it probably won’t happen.

Follow my posts. You will know because I will use the word fact at least once.

Do you think the Optum house call NP regional travel positions will be affected? They are posting left and right, I’m almost scared to apply

Yes, thank u to the person who wrote the original post. I would much rather have an idea that I could be laid off than be totally shocked. I wfh and it can be very isolating, u don’t see things that u might see in an office that might tip u off. I have been checking this site routinely since September. I only stumbled across it bc I happened to google “UHG layoffs”. I googled that when I heard about the hiring freeze, that made me nervous. I’ve been here 12 years and I can’t remember it ever feeling this bad. I’m definitely going to do my best to get things in order in case I’m part of the RIF in March. To anyone who was part of the reduction today, I wish u the best and I truly hope u all land softly in a better place❤️

Is Optum trying to cease operations as a company? Or has UHC operating changed so drastically Optum is getting down stream effect?

I am the one who posted your link 7 days in advance and I only post what I know is accurate and factual.

I will keep everyone posted me as I get my information.

I do know the next layoff (RIF) is in March and Optum will be hit hard. As I know more I will start a new thread. Get your resume as the layoffs have been happening since early 2019 and will continues through 2020.
