After almost 10 years, today is my last day working for this company. They just don’t know it is my last day. They wouldn’t give me a two week notice, why should I give them one?

Now this is what I like to hear 🤝
Well good luck to you!
Obviously you aren’t the manager because there isn’t even a gate on the way out.
I could not care less. Don’t let the gate hit you in the a– on the way out.
Burning a bridge at Up? Lmao. Does UP care about future relations when they lay you off and escort your a– out the front door with security like you been selling meth in the company lunchroom? Nobody is going to remember your name tomorrow.
Enjoy that new job, please post an update in a month , tell us about the new job.
I am the op. I have never left another company this way but I have also respected most of the other companies I’ve worked with. I’m not worried about burning this bridge. I also have a pocket full of references that will vouch for me both with this company and from others. My work history and certifications/diplomas are what got me my new job. They didn’t even call a reference or prior employer.
@OP There is no reason to give notice to any employer other than professional courtesy. Your employment with UP is on an at-will basis, and as such you don't have to give any notice, or even tell them that you're quitting. You can simply stop showing up (aka ghosting).
Goodluck
No one fuсking cares.
I don’t think any respectable company would take a reference from Union Pacific, good or bad seriously. You could piss on the floor on your way out if you want
UP will not give a reference. They will confirm you work there that's about it. I wouldn't loose any sleep over it
well..........bye
Make sure your buddies know to call OT.
Entirely up to you, but I’m not a fan of burning bridges. You may need references in the future. Good luck with your future endeavor.
UP will effectively walk you out and shut off your access after you give notice. So I would give two weeks and never come back.
Me too. I just quit showing up. I know it isn’t going to hurt them at all but hopefully it’ll inconvenience them a little. ✌️
Give them the professional notice. On your way out the door after work today tell HR you quit effective immediately and it s—s to be them. Then get wasted and act inappropriately in all the local bars while wearing a UP shirt. Tell everyone how much you love the company.
I wouldn't either if I was you. When I hirired on they kept telling us dont give your notice dont give your notice. Then hey report for work tomorrow. WTF. That should have been my first clue. I would never give them the satisfaction of a notice.
