Thread regarding Sears layoffs

My Sears gift card had money on it, now it shows zero!

Any recourse?

The balance on cards issued before Sears' bankruptcy were wiped out, but they can be reactivated if you live in a state that requires it. If you don't, ship it to someone in one of those states. I know they will reactivate them in CA.

If you ever get your gift card money back use it as soon as possible

I worked for sears up until a few months ago. Go in the store and tell the cashier you have an old giftcard. A manager can go into shc connect and reactivate it through the devalued giftcard lookup. This applies to any issued before 2018

Personally, I would drive to the nearest Kmart and take a dump in the men’s fitting room.

I believe there’s a process in stores for employees to look up the value of an old card, and reissue with original balance, but good luck finding an employee to do it, or a store near you.

You can call with the card number information and they may be able to help depending on the age of the card.
