Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The Master Plan

Seriously, what is it??? There are not many stores left on either side to support a viable chain. The games need to stop, close them all now if that’s the plan. Stringing people along is not cute.

I was figuring he has to drag it out to avoid some window (timeframe) where he could be sued for liquidating all at once.

I think the master plan is to liquidate in small chunks rather than all at once. Either because Eddie Lampert still has some - misguided and fruitless - real estate strategy or because the bankruptcy judge didn't want Sears/Kmart to fail on his watch. There is no conceivable possibility of go forward at this point.

I was told that about 50 stores will survive this round of closings, and I guess the final few will be liquidated when this round is finished. They can only liquidate so many at a time.
