Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

No communication

I am disgusted by the lack of real communications from anyone in leadership. I know that when there are big events taking place, they cant talk about some things. There are considerations at the national level if the company is merging with a public company. I have never seen this lack of caring about what employees think or feel. No words of wisdom or anything except messages with nonsense corporatespeak about growth and other c-ap. The mentality is like what used to happen in companies in the 70s and 80s. Everything has regressed and the leaders don't care at all. They really do not care about anyone except themselves. HR doesn't care. HR is a mess. The communication we get is the standard stuff. I don't care about anything except knowing exactly what is going to happen and what leaders will do to fix a culture they destroyed in a few months. What kind of horrible people do that? The ones who pretend to lead the company now. Good luck trying to get employees behind whatever thing leaders decide to put out next. We do not believe anything anymore and we do not trust anything. I wish they were brave and would have a employee survey right now. The scores would s—. Everyone is angry and depressed and distrustful now. Way to go HCSC. Great job screwing up your reputation and the trust of your people. If I were a company that had HCSC insurance I would do my employees a favor and change to a better healthcare insurance company.

For those that can retire, you'd better move fast!!! Feb 25 is HCSC Board meeting. Decisions made, probably will include dissolving, removing, cashing out, or significant pension rule changes which none of these will benefit the Employee. Heed the warning.

This will never change. We have too many sycophants in this company that will lap up whatever dog sh– they are served with a smile on their face. I shake my head at the amount of people that vomit the corporate bs with pride about what an "ethical company" we are. They know they can treat us this way, thanks to people like that. "Oh yes daddy Halliburton, fill my maw!"

As a loyal, dedicated employee of 20+ years, I agree. While I absolutely understand that things change and some things cannot be discussed, the lack of communication in the last several months is appalling. The company’s number one priority used to be our members and providers - and our employees. Now it seems shady and hyper-focused on profit. Add that to the complete disregard for appropriate communication (not the once-every-couple-of-months, vague (and sugar/coated) emails, and you have an employee base whose morale is shot to h#ll and their drive to succeed and do what’s right for our members has been replaced with fear, uncertainty and disgust. Would be nice to have at least an inkling what the end-game is. As was said in another comment, way to go HCSC.

There are few in leadership that care for our employees. It’s most definitely a top-down philosophy. Make no mistake about it, the new leaders are focused on profit, not the member, not the physician, not for the good of changing healthcare. Soulless.

The culture has been bad since 2015, This isn't some new development for lower level employees. We have been treated like sh– for years. Communication and training are husks of what they used to be, and to be fair communication was never really that great and has only became worse since the 2016 restructuring. Metrics were made with zero consideration of the work being done and that still continues through today. Pay is stagnant, many employees are hovering around the new corporate minimum, some of which have been working here for 5 to 7 years. There are people walking in off the street making that much now, how do you think it makes these veteran workers feel? Especially when we see the company make record profits in the tune of 4 billion dollars. So many of us dread coming to work each day, and all of this could be easily rectified, but it never will be.
