Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Can't wait to see what Mattel's got up their sleeve for NYTF!

NYTF is always an exciting event, but this year especially, I feel like Mattel's really going to pull out all the stops and wow everyone, further reenforcing the idea that Ynon has indeed turned the corner and has turned the company around.

Let’s face it. Mattel has no big news for NYTF. Instead we will hear more about all the Mattel Movies and more about our transformation from a toy company to an entertainment company (with no entertainment). RD wil razzle and dazzle and say nothing and Ynot will just say nothing. There is no good news because there are no good toys.

Ynot is deep in media training! So there’s that.

OP, dream a little dream.
I hope you turned down the volume on your alarm clock. It’ll be deafening!

I knew Spin stole the Monster Jam license from Mattel, but I didn't know they also took the DC universal toys too until the other day when I saw a Batman endcap at Target. I'm surprised this wasn't bigger news

Mattel will pale to the creative disruptive genius that is spinmaster. All of the peak employees have migrated to spinmasters greener pastures. you will all lose.

It is not what they will pull from their sleeves, but what they pull out of their a$s. Nothing but an empty movement of cliches, jargon and hyperbole. The only corner that seems to have been turned is that execs are closer to running with lots of money and zero accomplishment other than writing Press Releases to the media. Did any of those millions of internet hits evolve into top line revenue growth or profit.....did not think so!

For the better part of a decade now, Mattel's big new NYTF innovation turned out to be BS. Think Aristotle, Thingmaker, Barbie Hologram, etc. This was, and perhaps still is, emblematic of the larger failures within the company.

I agree with the OP, if Mattel wants to demonstrate that the company has indeed turned the corner, not only do they need to debut some truly groundbreaking new toy this year, they also need to make sure said toy makes it onto store shelves this Fall.

Nope, that's the old Mattel, grasping desperate headlines at NYTF. We have turned the corner! Last year, our gallery was subdued and Mattel mostly blended into the woodwork. Ynon is no flambouyant Jill Barad, that's for sure. But fear not, what he lacks in panache, he doubly lacks in toy business experience, gut feel, acumen, and common sense.
