Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Layoffs Poorly Thought Out

What a disaster these layoffs are. Continuity of service was definitely not planned out. Departments have been disassembled and teams reporting to new management that is still kept in the dark on how to move forward. So many unanswered questions and zero answers from leadership.

If more layoffs are coming, just ride it out for a separation package.

Everyone who is laid off due to a RIF will receive a decent severance package, regardless of whether they took the VSP three years ago. Standard practice in all companies. They're not being terminated for doing anything wrong. If that were the case, they could be fired with no severance for cause. For those who didn't take early retirement last time, it means only that they couldn't go back and ask for that same package in the future. And, no guarantees that any future severance packages would be as good as the ones they were offered in 2016.

To answer one of the previous questions, I have it on good authority (from my Director boss who was laid off on Tuesday) that the minimum package is 6 months full salary/benefits. From there, it increases based on length of time employed by HCSC.

Those who were offered VSP is 2017 and declined were told there would not be another package offered to them again, so it’s possible there would not be another package if the employee had stayed and hoped they would not immediately be RIFed (and there were quite a few who stayed).

What is the typical package at the lower levels (manager and below)?
