Thread regarding IBM layoffs

One More Kind Act

Dear Ginni,

Do us another favor, please step down as chairman, you have done quite enough for us, just do us one last small favor. You announced your retirement and the stock price spiked, need we say more? You have the best PIP package than all of us, please take it and stay completely out of IBM. We will take it from here. We look forward to rebuilding IBM and our shattered lives. Leave us to heal in peace. We thank you for your service. Please go quietly. We have had enough.

Now, where were we? Oh yes, Ding Dong! The Witch is Gone ... Everybody together, let's take it from the top.

1fo. You have hit the nail on the head. IBM will shrink (A LOT) and become a profitable “Niche” player

I could not have said it better than these two comments before mine. Krishna is an IIT grad. I've worked with plenty of them at other companies over the years. They always think they are the smartest guy in the room. In India, they are I suppose. We will see IBM cozy up to the Indian outsourcers like never before. These guys know very well that this low margin, failing business can only be done at the lowest cost. And that means moving more stuff to India.

Ginni, for all her bad points, never really seemed to even mention or acknowledge the tsunami of those half dozen firms eating IBM Services' lunch. She happily sent numerous US jobs to IBM India, but not TCS, Wipro, and the like. I would bet this will change under the new CEO. Will Krishna and Whitehurst who are the farthest thing from Services people, want to spend time figuring out how to fix GTS/GBS - or just hand it over to the bottom feeders that can still eek out some kind of money on it. I bet the latter.

As stated, Ginni is now IBM's Chairman. She's no longer the main character on stage; she's now the puppeteer who will continue to have a say with everything Krishna and Whitehurst recommend. They will have a shorter leash than she did as a CEO. Whitehurst most likely will go elsewhere ... mark my words. Krishna's appointment supports IBM's directions in India along with the likes of Tata, Wipro and HCL. So yes, Ginni is gone however she's not fading away.

I have to laugh at the fact that Ginni had to train her Indian replacement just like the rest of us.
