Our area just hired 2 more cst’s and we’re and we don’t have any work. So out of touch with what is needed and what should be hired.

Must give 30 days notice to Unions for layoffs there. Probably no reductions in ilec. They have were hiring techs just last month. Ilec only thing left profitable, sellable in this wreck of a company.

Moral is at an all time low. I am a net tech and I have stopped going into the CO to wait for jobs in ETA. I turned my location off on my phone and I now sit at home and wait for jobs. My manager stopped showing up to work, why not. I still have pride in my work, so I will tackle jobs quickly.....but its kinda nice just running “internal activity” jobs from my couch while I wait for a real job. This week I left my house on tuesday and thats it.....so this is how the other half lives?

Morale is certain to hit another record high with these brilliant moves. I plan to devote a full hour of effort tomorrow.

Are layoffs hitting across the board (both ILEC and CLEC) or just CLEC?

Operations veep said 31 technicians eliminated, 7 of which were empty positions, on his call this afternoon. He stated finance and accounting had some people affected by today's "staff reduction exercise" as well.
