Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Layoffs will continue through February?

Somebody wrote layoffs will continue through February - is this true? And if it is, what exactly does "through" mean? They will stop at the end of January or they will continue through to the end of February?

If it's the second one, I'm not sure how I'm going to take a full month of stressing over this. It would be inhumane to put us through that.

Has it occurred to anyone that certain things are completely unrelated? The timing may have been awful but some things would have happened regardless of how the company grows. The dress code reminder was necessary because some managers weren’t enforcing it. Some people made it worse for all of us by wearing things that are inappropriate for work. Leadership decided to address it. And many people have been dressing better since then. I still see some hot messes and wonder why the managers aren’t stepping in and sending those people home. The layoffs were about a topheavy leadership structure. There were about resetting orgs especially in groups that were operating like it was the 80s. They were not moving forward and dragging their feet. Smetimes the way you move things more fast is by eliminating people who are not good with change. I know this is not true in every situation but it was for some. And companies have been known to do things like this when they want to send a clear message about change. The company won’t operate like it has before if it wants to grow and be competitive. The rumors about Anthem are just that. Rumors. Not likely. What is possible is fast growth through acquiring other plans. Which plans are a good fit for our business?

It seems and I’m not 100% sure it’s contractors, and those below level 38

Which department wasn’t hit hard?

We were told by one of the remaining leaders that the next round for our department will start March 2nd. This department took an extreme hit during the first purge but the message was that the next wave will be even more intense. There is absolutely no need to "wait and see" considering they were basically giving us the only heads' up we needed. Essentially, you've got thirty days.

We recieved an email from our leader saying that they had their go forward team in place now after these layoffs. I'm not sure if that means our department is done with layoffs or not. It's hard to trust any leader after this.

There will also be a lot of people leaving voluntarily after the bonuses are delivered on March 13. I know many are tired of the toxic environment, threat of future layoffs and lack of communication about what is happening with the company. Can't blame them though, people have families to support and will not tolerate this nonsense.

I was told by a few people who I trust the next layoffs will happen through Feb and it should all be complete by March, and that they will collect our dept budgets that are now due, slice them and make cuts so as to start whatever is going to happen (merger, purchase, etc) with a clean slate

Probably depends on the Department, some departments were told that only Directors and above were being layed off and this was the last of the layoffs. Other departments had managers layed off as well.

The real question is can we trust them at their word or are they being lied to by the CEO and other high level management?

Some key people were let go that will affect our ability to function for a long time and no one in upper management seems to care. If more key professionals are let go it will be an even bigger mess. HCL remains a cluster of problems and these layoffs will only compound functional effectiveness. So much for doing what is best for customers and improving capabilities, those are just vague lies being told by upper management. Everyone now is too shocked to speak up about it though so the downward spiral will continue for now. Sad to see this happen to a once great company.

May as well get out now, seems to be a lot of instability over the years and management shake ups that fail to provide good direction for the organization.

HCSC Free = Stress Free
