Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Latest Cuts

Signal Relief will be cut - starting with 40 across the system. Mechanical that signed up for the vacation buyout will be gone on 2/12 - but have to stay until then. With the Board of directors meetings coming first week of Feb, expect more layoffs right after bonus time.... if there is a bonus. I assume most of it will be 'retention stock' then those individuals will be prompted walked out with a 25% vesting. My thoughts are with the rest of you still caught in this.

Heard about it in rsvl but also heard director thinks its only for workers cloe to or are retiring and are just holding on til may for qualifying 2021 vacation .

North Platte still working a lot of overtime. Don’t think got offered vacation buyout. Main Hub don’t think any layoffs in future

In view of the current business operations, the Company is willing to waive vacation
qualifying requirements for 2021 for employees in active service represented by the
crafts above, subject to the following provisions:

  1. The employee must indicate, by written application, his or her willingness to

terminate employment, and leave Company service, no later than February 12,
2020

  1. The employee’s written application must be made between January 21, 2020 and

noon on February 1, 2020.

  1. The employee must be in active service during the application period and remain

active throughout the period immediately prior to the resignation date. Moreover,
the employee must be eligible for vacation in fiscal year 2020.

  1. The Company will review written applications and inform the applicant

employees of approval or denial for participation by 5:00 P.M. on February 5,

  1. The Company reserves the right to determine the number of applicants

allowed to participate, and to determine when those employees are released.

  1. Employees who elect to participate in this program will not be allowed to rescind

their application once submitted.
Applications in writing for this program must be furnished to your local chairperson, and
to:

  1. Your immediate manager
  2. Your local chairman
  3. Mechanical Department at MechVacWaivers@up.com

I'm the LA basin guy.
We were hit hard on the 13th.i haven't seen a vacation buy out offer, other than the one a few years ago to sell a week of your vacation.

It was only posted at mechanical service units that are going to have major furloughs! I have a feeling my location will be hit very hard
