I just read a article supporting your suspicions... it’s illegal to discriminate based on age when hiring but you can’t prove it happened so companies don’t even try to hide it. The hiring manager can claim the person they hired was better qualified. They’re never going to say a candidate wasn’t considered because they were too old. The article claimed that research found thousands of postings on multiple job sites that asked for recent college graduates (code for young people) or classified the position as entry level in spite of required skills and experience that no entry level person would have. Entry level is another indication they’re looking for young people.

Young people with fresh ideas are certainly beneficial to a company but so are the the wise ones with mature skills and behaviors. Who will mentor and train the fresh ones if all the experience is gone.

Yes, it is old news from last year, but it does bear repeating. In fact, I (as well as a few others) believe we are running into ageism inside the company. A few of us have applied for jobs internally, only to be told 'we went with another candidate', and not even get an interview.....only to find out later that they are still advertising for the job internally.

More over, there is suspicious language in the job postings that says things like "3 years experience, or 7 years experience", which is code for not wanting anyone with MORE than that, in other words anyone who qualifies for a pension. Even worse, I have run across a job posting which directly says they are looking for someone whom had X experience either in school or in a FCG rotation, which clearly indicates they are looking for young people.

Should we contact a lawyer and bring a case against Ford....what does the internet think?

Corporate America - this behavior goes on everywhere.

Everything comes down to money - you think you are working for a family but at the end of the day it is about the $.

Even your own family will turn on you when it comes time to settle a relative's estate. I went through it with my OWN SISTER!! Money creates evil!!

Think about this when you are slaving away at work for 55 hours while your family is moving on without you.

Get your priorities straight.

After reading the details, the company should burn in hell.
