How many people work at Barnes and Noble?

How many people work at the company? How about the headquarters at NYC?

It used to be about 40,000 collectively year ago and steadily decreasing. There are 2 NY headquarters actually. NYC and Long Island.

There are people of color in corporate by the way. You know...diversity laws and such.

After reading about the re-released classics with characters in Blackface, it’s obvious a LOT of racists work at BN. ( and obvious, no people of color work in Corporate!!)

I was at a store in New Jersey. It had about 12 registers or so. One cashier. No one at Customer Services. One person by Kids books. Someone shelving. Big store, too.

The company has had its run. They’ve treated their employees horribly. Fired good, career minded booksellers, leaving less experienced coverage on the floor for customers.

Jokes aside, the company FAQ says that as of 2019, it's got about 23,000 employees. More websearching turned up an old stock market report from 2017 that said the company then had about 26,000 employees. That report broke the number down as 11,000 full time and 15,000 part time but didn't say anything about stores vs. headquarters, but the difference between full-time and part-time is interesting. I guess they don't do the stock market paperwork anymore since it's not on the stock market now. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/890491/000119312517209897/d389058d10k.htm
