Cwa trying to unionize contractors

Why is the cwa trying to unionize contractors instead of using their time to fight for the employees that are paying them union dues. This union is so weak they need to start stepping up and fighting for the contract that we have. First they screw us by letting our contract get worse every time it comes up for renewal but they won’t even fight for what we do have. This is what the company is banking on because they know our union is weak.

More members means more of a fighting chance against the company. I suggested to CWA to start recruiting contractors months ago and they laughed it off. They need more union members, but they also need union staff who aren’t out for themselves, and who can relate with field tech work.

and there you all are with your coffee cans throwing water over the side of the ship hoping praying that somehow the water will stop pouring in the giant hole in the stern....waiting on lifeboats which there are less and less of clinging hoping praying —the call has been given "Abandon Ship" or get wet and want

They only care about money, not the workers. That became obvious to several workgroups here, and It's why we dropped out.

When the contractors are unionized, they will be dues paying members. CWA is in it for CWA, not the rank and file. That has been clear for years. As their revenue and political power slips from cuts in their historic memberships, they're seeking other sources.
