Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

One of the saddest weeks for this company

This week was one of the saddest weeks for a company that I love, but I don't know who they are anymore I was asked to take a very large pay cut. I was with Hy-Vee when we had less than a hundred stores. I've talked to other managers and other friends we are split down the middle .some of us can't do it because of principle or because of pride. some of us can't do it because of family who would makes us have to do these things. a company that said helpful smile in every aisle . a company who's preaches about employee owned. I'm one of those people who have to walk away ,cuz it hurts too much. I've been with Hy-Vee off and on for over 30 years thank God this is not the only thing I can do. God bless all the families that have been affected.God will lead us and guide us.

I feel this deeply. I had 10 years in the company. Had worked my way to mgr of store operations in my hometown. Things were always stressfull but my heart was in that store. Inventory monday, they let me work the whole shift then offered me part time at almost half the wage. All so the ex store director could stay there even though they were the cancer in our store. It hurts to walk away, but i simply had to.

I can relate to all of this.....22+ years. The only job I've really ever had. The last service awards dinner I attended left me looking over my shoulder when it should have been encouraging and congratulatory. I guess my instincts were pretty accurate. I'm sure anyone who's been around could feel the Wreckless Randy shift.

RE needs to be gone.....one bad decision after another. Too much supporting of every sports stadium , trying to compete with Amazon which is impossible. Working the Directors to death and constantly threatening their jobs. Unreasonable expectations over and over and losing all of the long time employees. Sad.... so sad!!

I am also struggling , it hurts. I have been a driver for 27 years , and took a lot of pride in my job. Integrity means the world to me and I was always proud of this company. So many friends and acquaintances have been hurt ( not to mention family members) that I will probably have to find a job elsewhere. Although I am lucky and as a Union member my job is safe my abilities do not hold me to a company I no longer believe in. Do they realize the level of employees that they have lost, or will lose ? This is so frustrating having to watch a company that I have literally put my life on the line for , missed kids activities, worked unreal hours , and gave the majority of my life to become an immoral, uncaring toxic work place. I can't wrap my head around it , and whoever decided this is the correct way should be ashamed of themselves
