Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Family Days

So the glass palace has put out the new plan to show their appreciation for the employees they haven’t laid off but continue to threaten. How many people are actually going to show up for this poor attempt to apologize for the $hitshow they created.

There no way I'd be going to it. I wasn't impressed the way people were treated at the last one I went to. It was supposed to be a family day, and ended up being a reconnaissance mission for the managers. There were managers trying to control the people who did show up. The overall attendance at these events has gotten real small, but they still hold them. The management team gets super p-ss-d because no one shows, and some have asked why? I'm sorry. but I have better things to do at home. The family days they host, to put it nicely are a JOKE!

People will show up. No doubt. Usually the high seniority guys, the ones that wont be touched (as of yet) Those guys can give a flying f#$k what is going on right now. They will bring their wives, kids, grandkids, parents, cousin, etc. Those are usually the people that show.

I still remember the "profound concern" for employees and their families expressed by Cameron Scott when he was super in North Platte.

The fact that after he said what he said (and on a conference call to boot) that he still went on to become COO says a lot about what UP thinks about the family lives of their employees - and the kind of person who succeeds in the company.

When someone brought stuff down to the guys working last year they said all the managers were complaining not enough people were showing up and they were p-ss-d. Then it was brought up they had just laid off a few weeks before what did they expect everyone to show up smiling and thankful for hotdogs, $hitty hamburgers, snow cones, and some company hats and tshirts as raffle prizes, nope not happening that p-ss-d them off more. The best thing that could happen this year is no one show up at all but that won’t happen.

Went to one 15 years ago and that was the last! As far as I know the Portland service unit hasn’t had one in several years anyway. That being said, I won’t be there.

From a mechanical standpoint, they'll get some bikes and other trinkets from Walmart and raffle them off, they'll bring in a catered truck, but for some reason actually makes good food, and dont forget the nurses looking for a reason to pull you out and the credit unions/banks preying on you.

Why would any employee want to rub elbows with these s— asses? Why would you want to being your family around them? Hey Timmy. This is the good Ol boy trying to fire Daddy everyday. Let’s go say Hello!

if they had some sort of a temporary stand down of work, put everyone in paid OS status and let you actually enjoy then maybe. now, you got to either be off or give up sleep on undisturbed rest. the most absurd idea anyone ever had. only the tsc guys and a few weirdos go to those things

Heard rumblings that last years family days didn’t turn out well and the local mangers were not happy at all. What did they expect you go from giving away TVs and other electronics to hats and tshirts, and complain when employees eat more than one burger, hotdog, coke, or anything else that was supposed to be for them.

Won't even consider going. It is as big of a slap in the face as making that stupid locomotive or the straight up articles...
