Thread regarding Optum layoffs

If you are tenured and older than 40, then look out

They have been laying off housecalls practitioners all along. If you are tenured and older than 40, then look out. Update your resumes and get out while you can on your own terms. Or at least take all of your PTO or lose it to the company as they do not have to pay it when you leave or get laid off. There is something about at will work policies; they only help the corporations. They can lay you off for no reason. Good luck and God bless you all. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

A good post from @mio+13Nd4I4l.

I watched Trump today and there is a company called Signify Health that are Home Practitioners that are hiring. Good time to make your move. Go on their website and apply. Right now they are only hiring in specific areas. I sent an email and let them know what is going on with UHC and to see if they are and will expand into other areas. They will be doing drive-by for people to test for the virus. They are seeing seniors at their homes for all issues. I would look into it and apply. Home base is Texas. Screw UHC.

Not all 65 year olds have to work to survive and do not rely on their pets. They have viable lives like anyone else. Younger people are ill equipped to act civilly to others of any age. Look at yourself in the mirror. In nursing, there needs to be a balance of young and old. Not just youngsters who are wet behind the ears. Older adults have knowledge and experience that the youngsters do not have to work effectively. Good luck to all and hopefully, there will be some civility to others of all ages.

For you losers complaining about 65-70 year olds still working - GET A LIFE and stop whining!!

Those over 65 that are still working is probably due to the fact that they are still supporting children (or grandchildren) who are unable or unwilling to take care of themselves.

If you can't compete with a 65-70 year old then maybe you need to sharpen your skills because guess what - if that older worker leaves you won't be able to compete with a foreign worker either!! Who is to say YOU will get that 65-70 year old's job, anyway??

Payout for layoffs is variable per individual state law. I know from varying lay-off procedures with multiple states involved in lay-off from 12/4.

If you live in California, the company must pay out ALL of your PTO. I was laid off in November and they had to pay me 9 weeks of PTO. So if you live in CA, keep those PTO hours because they will be helpful to you since severance packages for most will be nill.

My severance package paid out a lump sum of 40 hours of PTO. It was noted that 40 hours was the maximum payout.
