Thread regarding Sears layoffs

A&E Techs

I haven't had a call or route since Monday, and that was only one service call. Why is this happening? Is anyone else experiencing the same as far as not being able to get hours or does anyone know what's causing this to happen?

@3izm+13ORPPFY It's a decent enough business model for techs that know what they're doing. For "parts changers", not so much. If you contract to Sears/AE, that doesn't mean they are the only work you can take. You'd be crazy not to take advantage of the situation and use the Sears/AE business as a way to get your name/business out there.

It is likely that A&E is going to become https://www.servicelive.com

The business model here is that you are your own business, and Sears, through Service Live, will just broker the connection between you and the customer. And this...is not a really good arrangement for the techs. This model means you don't get paid a salary through sears, but get paid by the gig.

I cannot state with certainty that this is the case, but I ask you to consider the timing of Service Live being a thing and now techs are seeing a slowdown.

I would have to say that the ALL leadership here has definitely left the building and supposedly working while they’re office is at they’re home.. keep micro managing us .. Upper management has said for years that they wanna separate from the store , will be better off blah blah blah , so here you have it. No more sears , no calls , layoffs a horrific call center.and nothing from upper management!! It’s embarrassing showing up to calls and customers saying I hope you are looking for a new job because this company has checked out!! They won’t be around. Where is the marketing team to strategically keep us relevant and profitable.. where are you guys? Pathetic.. C&Ms will not save this company

Many techs are laid off or on reduced hours right now. It is the slowest off season i have seen in decades. The sears work has dropped off due to store closings and lack of warranty work. the warranty work for other retailers like Lowes and The Home Depot is being done by other local companies that have a better customer service reputation. People are not happy with the transformation of service that happened this past decade , namely centralized routing, overseas call centers and pushy home warranty sales associates. The chickens have come home to roost and they are ugly. The best thing that could happen to A&E right now would be the immediate sale to a company that would operate it as a repair service company again. Hopefully the company that buys A&E won't have use for the management team in place now.They are just a bunch of yes men who are afraid to think outside the box in fear of the manager above them.

When they were messing with me they did that with my route.They want to make your numbers look bad so they have an excuse to get rid of people.
